he wasnt as “on” as he usually is. i felt as though the song was too simple and therefore, you didnt get to appreciate the full range of elliot’s voice. that being said, the masses of america will probably like the peformance more because they recognize the song.

Wow, I love Elliott and will vote for him, but I was a little disappointed…Of course, he was good, but I wasn’t blown away (the closest phrase I can ever come up with when I describe what his singing does to me) by that performance. Like what was said in post 15, there wasn’t anything wrong with his voice (Never!) but the song just didn’t allow him to really wow new voters into voting for him. Hopefully caringiscreepy is right about people appreciating it more because they recognize the song.

I think Elliott sang so well tonight.. amazing~
But I think the song was not as good as another he could have chosen that could have totally blown us away.. because he does amazing in this genre.
But I think Simon does have it in for him.. I mean, when Elliott performs Simon isn’t even looking at him.. so how does he know there is no personality? He’s not even watching! (Because there is plenty of personality there!)
And Simon also said that it was a “good vocal”. Are you serious? It ruled over the other contestants that were on before him, by far.
I dunno.. the show frustrates me sometimes..

Woo! E is back! Gotta admit – getting through a couple weeks with him in the bottom three had me worried. But he nailed it tonight. He was suave and made it his own. He also looked very handsome. Maybe someone found a way to loosen him up a bit. Whatever they did – don’t stop. E needs to stay till the end. Can’t wait to buy his CD! We are the Yaminions!
By the way, about one out of every 5 calls I made was busy. Last week, I had ONE busy signal in two hours. I cautiously optomistic. Way to go fellow E fans!

Is it just me or is it that Elliott, Taylor, Katherine and Paris all have nostalgic sound to their singing in general. I loved listening to their performances tonight. Would be nice if these four would be the Top 4. Hmmm…how about a CD compilation of classics from these four? Kellie, Ace and Chris sounded pretty much like amateurs compared to the four.

BTW…I dialed for Elliott tonight and I got through only about 5 times!

Simon is playing a very dangerous game with us. He either really hates Elliott or really loves him and is much much more sly than we are giving him credit for. Elliott knocked that out of the ballpark.

There hasn’t been a white male American Idol. I think the show is pushing for Chris or Ace.
Regardless who wins , my bet is Elliot’s career will far outshine anyone else’s.
McPhee is standard broadway material ( I wish she’d stop smiling after a line she sings, it’s so irritating), Pickler is becoming annoying with the dumb blonde act, Ace is a pretty boy with average singing ability, Chris is no solo act & belongs in a band, Paris is just too young, Taylor is average if you take away his crazy moves.
Elliot is the REAL DEAL.

Yamingirl, I think you’re right about Simon. I’d decided that Simon takes Elliott more seriously than most of the others because he always offers him the “no nonsense” commentary to show him what he’s lacking so he can be at his best. And Elliott always looks for and pays attention to Simon’s comments.

But for me, now Simon’s pushing it. Those comments might get E booted… and I’m DONE with AI if that happens!

Simon needs to give El proper credit. He has come a long way. It shows in Elliott’s eyes and hands when he’s not totally comfortable, but he was much more relaxed tonight. And he’s trying to work the stage more. I’m sorry though. Even if he hasn’t yet achieved a 100% polished stage presence, he was still fantastic… as usual.

I liked this. For some reason, people expect TOO MUCH emotion from the singers… and I hate it when people oversaturate songs with too much emotion. Elliot sang this simply– hit all the notes, made it slightly smooth and jazzy, and kept it simple. I enjoyed it a lot.

Nobody has ever commented on Elliott’s great diction, en I can understand every word he sing. I love how he respects a song, does not oversing it that’s why one wants to hear it over and over. To me an example of overkill is Celine Dion, I need vacation after listening to her.
Another thought, thinking about singers like Katherine, good but so generic, like those who sing to commercials.
Elliott’s voice and style are instantly recognizable. Why would Simon prase Kathrine for sounding so professilnal? Is not this competition for amateurs?

I used to love Simon so much but I am now starting to dislike him. He’s been severely off his game lately. The acoustics must be really weird on that sound stage because he’s starting to catch up on Paula’s batting average for HUH? WTF! remarks. Elliot totally ROCKED tonight!

Chris’s monotonous shouting is getting a bit boring, I think Taylor’s got IT but his eccentricity and song choices are getting more and more tiresome, Paris’s outfits are somehow distracting attention from her talent, Katharine is fantastic only half the time because she really does have horrible high notes, Ace should just go and form a new boy band (he REALLY DID look like a waiter with that ponytail Rickey!!!!!), and Kellie is just BLAAAND and BOOOORING and FAKE (why oh why does Simon like Kellie so much-didn’t he ever run into trailer trash in Britain?).

I love Elliott!

But like Covington, Yamin’s confidence has been shotdown by his constant placing in the bottom three!

Being in that mind set compromised Elliott’s performance tonight……..Yeah the vocals were great….but the song was most boring and Elliott did not help matters much by remaining as limp and lifeless as a ragdoll….

I bit my lip 30 seconds into it and felt that gnawing dread in the pit of my stomache that he will be in the bottom three again…damn.it.

The objict of the game now is to grow in confidence on the stage, not to drown because a lack thereof…

Got up this morning and linked onto rickey.org – cannot believe all the wonderful comments already up here. Yeah!

We installed dialidol software this week and used it to dial in last night – 404 votes tallied. We live in a small burg in Central Texas, we only had 19 busy signals.

But, strange thing: we moved up here from Houston 2 years ago, so our cell phones have another exchange, and guess what – after 2 hours of punching numbers till my fingers ached, I only got in about 20 votes. Now, tell me, how does this make any sense. I get through from here, but not on my Houston line???

As for E not having personality – is Simon kidding? Lordy, it was like E was looking into my soul and coming out of the screen right to me! I do agree he needs to pick songs with more “pizazz” to wow America, but I still love this performance.

I was voting last night and I only got in 3 votes within a half hour. I hope that is a good sign. I don’t even want to see him in the B3. I really enjoy listening to him sing. Pickler had to get Bucky’s votes so that may have been why she had higher numbers on dialidol.

My top 3 are Elliot, Taylor, Chris. 3 different genres of music. Katharine can sing but I don’t really like her style. I can’t see where she will fit on the radio, would she be jazz?

Who knows.. I thought she sounded good last night.. and that is the first time I am saying that.

ELLIOTT WAS AMAZING! His vocal timing and, dare I say, stage choreography were impeccable. He exuded a subtle sexiness throughout the piece. I loved that unkempt bushy hair look this week, and his eyes just pop with that purple shirt! *swoons* Now, re: the vocals, they were flawless–he had perfectly rendered backphrasing and intoned just the right words at the right moment. I’m not pretending to be a vocal coach here, but I’ve heard a lot of great singers, and I rank our E-Man (an amateur at that) among the top of the list. It is just so hard to get through those phone lines – very frustrating . I voted for two hours solid and got in about 130 votes – not bad , not great . SO MANY busy signals – hope that means that tons of other people were getting through a lot more than I was .

Man, I have just been reading the comments on the other contestants’ pages – good governer gurdy as my mom used to say. It seems we have a nice bunch here, just a couple of negatives, nothing like some of the foul-mouthed language I’ve just read. Hope Rickey gets some time do hit the delete key a few times!
I did get nervous reading a comment on Ace’s site about Simon having said pretty much who was going home, with his personality comment.
I am nervous about tonight – can you imagine how those kids must feel. They are out there singing their hearts out, and all they really are is fodder for the entertainment/media.
I hope in the end all the deserving ones get a break, and don’t just disappear into the woodwork.

I thought Elliott was fantastic last night. He was so relaxed and really looked like he was enjoying it more than any other performance I’ve seen. Someone earlier posted something about “blue-eyed soul” and asked if it meant Sinatra. No, it’s used for white guys who put a lot of soul/R&B/jazz influences into their performances, like Tom Jones, Joe Cocker, Hall & Oates, etc.

The thing about Elliot is that he is understated. He doesn’t rely on looks, wardrobe or phoniness to “sell” him, he relies strictly on raw TALENT so sometimes he gets overlooked by those who want splash. Like Simon said, it’s a SINGING competition so if you vote soley on singing then Elliot should win the whole thing because he is the only one that has never given a bad performance. You gotta listen to the voice. The man is subtle and amazing. You gotta listen to the phrasing, to the changes in tone from a whisper to a raspy roar, he’s got it all. AND HE’S ALWAYS ON KEY, not to mention he can swing. When this competition is over and he’s been voted off (because most people don’t appreciate artists like Elliott) he will have a long, lucrative career just being Elliott. I love to listen to him. Simon is so full of it, he keeps contradicting himself. He told Elliot it was a GOOD vocal but he’s “concerned” for him? why is he saying that when it was a great vocal? If anyone else had sung as badly as Kellie he would have told them to PACK THEIR BAGS. He tells Paula it isn’t a dancing competition yet he never misses a chance to slam Taylor over his dancing. I think Simon is scared that Elliot is singing so well he’s becoming a serious threat to Chris and Kellie so nothing Elliot does will receive proper praise. So true Chas. Elliot will have the longest career along with Taylor. Both of them are ORIGINALS and that is so rare these days. Kellie and Chris are adequate singers but I have heard it all before, they aren’t unique in any way. I can think of 5 bands whose lead singers sound exactly like Chris and Kellie sounds like a dozen other country singers. Katharine could have a nice career singing standards but as a pop singer she’s kinda boring.

I am not ashamed to admit I’m a Yaminion 110%! I LOVE this Boy! So what if he’s not as beautiful as Chris….his voice makes up for that. And he is one of few contestants who are humble (unlike the screeching Kat who sulks everytime she is in the bottom 3…where’s her cheesey smile then?) Elliott’s never had a weak performance…AND he’s 90% deaf in 1 ear! Plus, he’s just a sweetheart! Elliott and Chris will be the final 2 and they will both be winners…I’ll buy any CD of theirs. Anyone who says “It Had To Be You” is a boring song is flat-out wrong. It’s one of the all-time classics. You try singing it and expressing the emotion inherent in that song. I’ll bet you say the same thing about “Someone To Watch Over Me”. Have you ever heard of George & Ira Gershwin? Have you ever listened to Rosemary Clooney, Doris Day, Judy Garland, Ella Fitzgerald or Frank Sinatra? Elliot’s “Somebody to Love” was the performance of the night Queen week. It’s an utter disgrace he didn’t get more praise heaped on him by the judges. At least Seacrest was smart enough to realize what a travesty it was for him to be in the bottom 3. That is a very hard song to sing.

I don’t get Simon. He told Elliot he was the best male vocal on AI EVER back when he sang “If you really loved me” but now all of a sudden he’s less than thrilled….why? I guess Elliot is really becoming a threat to the predetermined “winner” Kellie. Simon did the same thing last year,Carrie used to forget the words, sing out of time ect. yet Simon would always praise her anyway because HE decided she would be the winner. He figured he could make the most money off her.

Jee – I’m totally with you on Chris. Week after week he looks like he’s not enjoying his performances. So it irks me when E’s stage presence/personality is made such a big deal. Come to think of it…the only person that I think has the professional singer demeanor is Katharine – how she acts on stage and connects with her audience – although her style is almost generic, nothing brilliant or amazing about it. All the rest are in the same boat as E. IMO, most of these contestants will probably never be really at ease on AI stage because (let’s not forget) it is a competition.

Did Simon say that he’s a little worried about Elliott’s personality/presence on stage? To give him the benefit of the doubt…I guess he’s just worried or maybe curious how Elliott will fare when the competition is over, outside the competition, if he wins. Will he be able to really connect with an audience? I guess I can understand where he’s coming from. I just don’t think he should drop statements like recklessly without elaborating or explaining it when he knows that voters are swayed easily by statements like these. Looking back though, Elliott has gone a long way since the auditions/Hollywood rounds and he’s definitely picked up lots of pointers from the artists they work with week after week and I’m sure when he’s in his element without the pressure of the competition, he’s gonna be way better that how’s he is now.

His voice is just so unique and brilliant that it would be a shame to see him not making it all the way through just because of his stage presence. As his mom said…”the talent is a given”…all the rest can be worked on and developed.

Just listened to some Sammy Davis – OK, maybe similar in timbre to Sammy’s voice when he was young. But what I forgot was how Davis’ voice got deeper and more mellow as he aged. Just think, E in 20 years sounding even better than now!

Okay, I just finished listening to all 7 mp3’s again and here’s how I rank ‘em (as if that matters, ha):

1. Toss up between Kat and E – just depends on which mood I’m in to see which I like better both were the best of the night

2. Paris – nice throw back, but not as good as E and Kat

3. Chris – it actually came across nicely, you could hear his alt rock edge which made it kinda cool

4. Taylor – he sounded way better at the beginning without the visual than he did on TV, and he took it up several notches at the end (not much spread separating Paris/Chris/Taylor in terms of preference)

5. Ace – nasally from mid-point on, couldn’t hold a note, was pitchy (I finally understand what Randy means), would have been the bottom had our lady Godiva not sang before him (hahaha)

6. Pickles – terrible, no more words

Thoughts? Tonight we wave goodbye to Ace.

I think E has turned a corner, but I fear that with everyone else popularity, he’ll have to pick up a few of Ace’s votes in order to stay in the game (my picks for bottom 3 next week are Paris, Kat, E (damn, that sucks too, but unless people start focussing on the voice and not the act). Based on singing and consistency, it should come down to Paris and E, oh well, let’s see what happens.

Yes, the guy can sing really well. As I cant imagine Paris, Chris , Kat or Taylor in the bottom 3, I suspect Ace, Kellie and Elliott will be there. Other than Kellie, all contestants did good…(especially Kat and Taylor…..gosh, I’m biased.)But if Elliott leaves the show, look for him doing something in the entertainment world in the near future. there are 2 reasons that most of Elliot’s thread is nice comments. 1) Most people don’t hink Elliot is a threat to their own top choice so they don’t feel the need to attempt to ‘weaken’ his position. and 2) Elliot hasn’t done anything or said anything that could be targeted by naysayers. Kellie opens her mouth and gives everyone a reason to rag on her…same with Mandisa’s religious spiel…Ace has his beanie and his scar (I had always though a lack of scars meant you were doing it right)…Paris can’t figure out who she is…Taylor dances funny (he’s still my personal fav)…Katherine tends to come off with a Paris Hiltonesque ‘I’m better than you’ vibe…
Point being…everyone except Elliot has done or said something that will irritate or alienate some segment of society and then we blog about it.
On the other hand, Kellie became a favorite initially becuase of her hard luck story. We have since found that she is a liar and now people hate her. Elliot has the whole diabetes thing (don’t know much about it so sorry if I come off as insensitive to his plight, it is unintentional.) which gives him the pity vote (and I hate to call it that but that’s what it is) that Kellie once had.

He is good but I do think he has been riding that one phenomonal performance for a while. Everything else he has done pales in comparison. After listening to this MP3, I am really impressed with my man Elliott.
Alas, his stage presence does not match his awesome voice.
Just based on what was on TV, I thought that Katharine and Paris were best. However, once comparing purely the audio, Elliott’s performance was clearly on top… and album-ready. Fortunately, his voice is one that will carry him through for decades… and the rest will come in time. I hope America keeps him in the competition. I know all of my votes go to him. His talent is one that is really appreciated by the discerning listener. Unfortunately, that audience isn’t usually the one to phone in for 2 hours. C’mon Elliott fans, get into groupie mindset and vote! Give ‘em helll El!

Elliott is such a good guy! I’ve met a number of people that know him or have met him at the shows and they all adore him. He goes out of his way to remember his fans… to the point where he remembers their names! He also very good-naturedly spoke to another friend on the phone the other night before dress rehearsals! That just makes him that much more special…(in addition to his vocal talent).. he truly is deserving of the title.

The reason I placed both Elliott and Paris above Katharine this week is that Katharine doesn’t seem to udnerstand the songs… She kept *smiling* while she sang Someone to Watch over Me, which makes NO sense. Elliott and Paris understand this genre. They understand the proper phrasing and the proper demeanor and both are outstanding singers.

It’s annoying to me that the other vocalists are praised for mediocre performances. It’s as tho they have a much higher standard for both Elliott and Paris. To earn praise, especially from Simon, they have to be superb. Yet kellie can earn “it wasn’t great” for a truly horrendous performance.

I canâ€šÃ„Ã´t believe the selfishness of people who are disappointed with him this week just because the song was safe or not as good a s past performances.

Every single contestant has chosen safe songs at least once during the competition, and Elliott has chosen some of the most difficult ones that only heâ€šÃ„Ã´d be able to pull off effectively (Moodyâ€šÃ„Ã´s Mood for Love, Teach me tonight and Somebody to love). Just because this song wasnâ€šÃ„Ã´t up to par doesnâ€šÃ„Ã´t mean he didnâ€šÃ„Ã´t perform the heck out of it. He was oozing with personality (I donâ€šÃ„Ã´t know what Simon was thinkingâ€šÃ„Â¶ He wasnâ€šÃ„Ã´t watching Elliott perform last night as his head was down. How could he tell if he was showing personality?). If Elliott goes home because of his stupid comments, Iâ€šÃ„Ã´ll be so angry.

Iâ€šÃ„Ã´m starting to appreciate Paula Abdul more because of her positive comments about Elliott (which are all true). Every week, she ALWAYS saves the best comments for Elliott (This week, she mentioned that Elliott was at the â€šÃ„Ãºtopâ€šÃ„Ã¹). Randy says good things about Elliott too, but he doesnâ€šÃ„Ã´t believe heâ€šÃ„Ã´ll win. He should give Elliott just as much praise as he does with Taylor and Chris (even more so!).

Iâ€šÃ„Ã´m hoping that Elliott wonâ€šÃ„Ã´t go home. Iâ€šÃ„Ã´ll never feel so excited about watching another American Idol episode ever again if he leaves (except the season finale because Elliott would return. I wouldnâ€šÃ„Ã´t care who would win, however).

This is obviously not a singing competition. If it was, then Kellie wouldâ€šÃ„Ã´ve went home during Stevie Wonder week (or during any round of the semi-finals), Chris wouldâ€šÃ„Ã´ve went home during 21st century week, and Taylor wouldâ€šÃ„Ã´ve went home during Country week.

Elliott has been more consistent than any of those above three mentioned. But, since this is not a singing competition, Elliott has been in the bottom 3 twice, and the above three are sitting safe week-after-week.
We shall see tonight. Kellie was the only person who got negative comments last night. If she is not in the bottom three, all hell goes looseâ€šÃ„Â¶

I know everyone has been complaining about Simon’s “lack of personality” comment, but here’s something I noticed just after Elliot finished “It had to be you”.

While everyone was clapping you could here Simon say, “Paula” and then the word “TOP”.

Now, recall that Simon then stated E’s vocals were good but he lacked personality. To which, Ryan came to E’s defense and then enlisted both Randy and Paula to do the same. After much ranting, Paula finished it off with “top, top, top!”

Interesting, no?

So, the whole comment for Simon was planned and calculated to pi$$ everyone off and get voting for Elliot. They reinforced his performance through, not just Ryan, but Randy and finally Paula.

With respect to Pickles and to some extent Chris, the only reason they didn’t butcher her was because I think, they didn’t want to incite the same forces to vote in for her as they knew that it would detract from the sympathy vote for E. However, Pickles knows the game and her pout/shoes comment saved her a$$ along with that vote for the worst site.

Now, who still thinks that they, including Simon, don’t want E to stay in the competition and/or win.

I live in Canada and I want E to win (originally, I didn’t as I thought he’d be better off without it). But I’ve changed my mind once I found out that he would not be able to release an album until after the winner of AI and I can’t wait that long!!!

Elliott is indeed the most DESERVING of all the contestants. He deserves to win the crown simply due to his amazing VOICE. I could name at least 10 more reasons why he deserves to win, but his voice is all that matters.

In this world of disposable everything, including disposable music, Elliott will stand the test of time. He’s like good wine. It takes a sophisticated ear to appreciate his talent. I haven’t heard a voice like his since the Brat Pack days of Sinatra, Martin, etc. My dad (a New Yorker)still listens to those timeless guys and has worn out their albums. Now, he wants Elliott music.

And, what’s so great about Elliott is that he can cross-over into any genre. He did a country song (Garth’s If Tomorrow Never Comes) and owned it! I don’t like country, but he made a country fan out of me with that song! He did “I Don’t Want To Be” with a jazzy, hip-hop vibe (and the clothes to match the song). Then, he takes this old classic, It Had To Be You, and made it sound fresh, exciting and brand new!

It has to be Elliott, wonderful Elliott – the next American Idol.

I’m listening to his hot caramel voice as I type this. It gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. He is truly gifted…and so humble.
But how CUTE is he? An acquaintance said she couldn’t stand looking at his teeth. How superficial is that? I can’t stand looking at Barbra Streisand’s nose, but that doesn’t stop me from listening.

I really hope that he’ll get a lot of the Ace votes. He really appeals to any age group since he can sing anything.

Rob, it’s simple. Split your vote according to the degree that you prefer one over the other. If it’s 50-50 then allocate accordingly. That’s what I do between Chris and Elliott. I try to make sure that I cast an even vote. I also monitor dialidol, and when I saw Chris was low, I shifted my vote to mainly Chris.

BTW, Randy is on Tonight’s Show (Jay Leno). He said that Elliot is a “great singer” and has a “velvety voice.” He also went of about his hearing loss. Randy also seemed very enthusiast about E, more so than the other contestants.

Re: calling 800-numbers from overseas.
When I am home in Norway, I have tried on several occasions to access 800-numbers in the USA and have never had it work. Also, I cannot dial my bank’s 800 number in Norway from the USA.
However, I do not know how VOIP works wrt to these toll free calls, it might make it possible. If anyone gets this to work, please let me know!

And yes, you can vote as many times as you want, as long as it’s within 2 hours after the show. I don’t know how the line will decide whether you’re east coast or west coast, though….

Elliot proves once again that he is the finest vocalist on the show. Randy agrees, Paula does too (but she’s too diplomatic to come right out and say it) and Simon . . well he’s in denial. This mp3 is better than Harry Connick Jr.’s version, far better than Michael Buble (sp?) (which is saying a lot because Buble is rather good) and basically on par with a young Sinatra. It’s brilliant. Taylor was notably good the other night too. Second to Elliot. Chris was simply ridiculous–for the judges to give him any credit for that disingenuous performamce is ludicrous. Tuesday proves that Chris is a one trick pony, plain and simple. American saw it. Now America needs to start recognizing Katherine’s limitations, of which there are many. Katherine’s good, but not good enough. That will become clear for American soon. If everything goes right over the next couple of weeks, Elliot will slowly rise to the top and bring home a “dark horse” win. Elliot’s top three showing on Wednesday is the beginning of a trend–all the way to top. I think the rest of the contestants see it too. Look at Taylor and Chris and Katherine in the background when Elliot is performing. They are shaking in their boots. They know he’s the best. GO Elliot!!!! VOTE FOR ELLIOT YAMIN, AMERICA!!!!

I don’t understand the comments regarding Simon being so negative about Elliot, he’s actually been pretty complimentary with his comments:

” In the 5 seasons of the show, you are potentially the best male vocalist we have ever had”

” As this is a singing contest, let me judge you on your singing…you were fantastic”

Anytime Simon has had something vaguely negative about Elliot’s performance he has always said ‘Good Vocal’ in the context of the criticism. Or he’ll say “I like you, I’ve liked you from the start but…” If he doesn’t like Elliot’s dancing so what? He says the same thing about Taylor.

For example, for Elliot’s last performance he said he thought the vocal was good but he was “concerned’ for Elliot in that he didn’t think Elliot’s personality came through. I get the impression that Simon likes Elliot & he’s just trying to push him to be that much better every week.

His “concern” obviously came from a place where Simon likes Elliot & doesn’t want to see him go.
You didn’t hear him being “concerned” for Bucky did you?

Excellent point, Sharon. I’ve often thought that Simon does see that Elliot is clearly the best, but never tells Elliot as much, criticizing whenever possible, driving Elliot to do better and better. I could foresee in the next couple of weeks that Simon comes clean with Elliot, maybe saying someting like “Elliot, I have not told you thus far in the competition, but I have always believed you are simply the best vocalist on the show and American SHOULD make you the winner.”

I think you were right with your analysis of Simon’s criticism of Elliott. I also think its from the positive side and not to put him down. To me it sounded like Simon is telling Elliott-You can actually win this if you just step it up a bit more, you’re almost there, that is as far as Elliott connecting with his audience. Sounds like more of an encouragement. I hope thats how Elliott took it.

You know the Elliott fan base is blowing up….it’s kind of crazy.. This thread alone is more than double in size against any other contestant’s thread following last weeks performace.

I think I have Yaminitus or something because i can’t stop playing his performances..in the car, on the PC..I’m driving my boys nuts.
Is there some kind of Elliott Yamin help group I can attend or is this forum it?

I want to post this as I know a lot of you vote via the internet voting programs. I got this of one of the Fox idol message boards:

“Okay, folks, the official word is:

Any voting that is more than one vote per call is power voting, and if power voting is detected, all votes from that number for that show are thrown out.

What does this mean? Basically, it means one vote per phone call, which is what you do when you vote manually throughout the entire 2-hour timeframe. So, can you vote 300 times? Yes. If you dial 300 times.

Don’t use computer programs that allow you to vote thousands of times or send out 250 votes with one text message. This is considered power voting.”

Thanks for the post #435. It brought tears to my eyes. Diabetes is a terrible disease. Without proper management it can do so much damage. I know, I recently lost my Mother to it. It destroys organs, causes blindness and loss of limbs. I adore everything about Elliott. His humility, his sweet personality, and above all, his BEAUTIFUL voice. He is truly amazing. When I Saw Elliott’s Performance I thought his voice sounded amazing. In my honest opinion I am going to choose Elliott Yamin as the Next American idol because I feel he deserves it. I was shocked when Simon said his performance was a good one. I also say he will make it all the way to the finale. Lets hope that he will perform well for the judges on Tuesday night. I am supporting him all the way. He is my choice to win since my other favorites are gone. Keep it up Elliott You deserve to be named the next American idol.

#442: It should be okay. It’s not DialIdol.com so it does not use power voting system.

The principle is that if you dial 300 times to vote 300 times, then you are okay. So making a regular call to vote is good.

But it is NOT okay if you dial 1 time to vote 300 times. It means that 1 call delivers 300 votes at a time. This is only possible using text messaging (SMS) and DialIdol.com.

BTW, 300 votes is only example. It could be 200, 15 or whatever.

People, people. I’m so tired of the misinformation out there about DialIdol.com. It is NOT power voting software. It does EXACTLY what you do when you pick up the phone and dial the number yourself. It dials the number and then it waits either for a busy signal OR for the “thank you for voting for contestant #X” message. Then it hangs up and dials again… just like you do. You CANNOT place more than one vote per call with it. The “power voting” software that they are really referring to (the illegal kind) lies in the realm of hackers. It places a single to call to a phone number and then if it is answered (not busy) it tries to “break in” and seize control of that line (instead of letting the voting system hang up like it’s supposed to). If it successfully prevents the system from hanging up, then it sends out a continuous stream of votes. There are also hardware devices that hackers can use to do the same thing. REPEAT, DialIdol IS NOT POWER VOTING SOFTWARE. With DialIdol, if you’re lucky, you can place a call about every 10 seconds or so, or about 6 calls per minute max. So over a two-hour period (120 minutes), you might get 720 attempted calls on one phone line. Of course, not nearly that many will get through (and count as votes cast) if lots of people are voting for the same contestant. In fact, you probably can manually redial the number faster than once every 10 seconds, but you cannot keep up that rate continuously because finger fatigue will set in and your dialing will slow down. The advantage is DialIdol doesn’t get tired. LOL. Plus, it gives you a running tally of how many of your calls actually got through as votes.

Addendum to #446.

Perhaps #446 didn’t make it clear, but DialIdol uses the telephone modem in YOUR computer plugged into YOUR landline at YOUR house, the same phone line that you use to make telephone calls. If you have only a cell phone at your house, you cannot use DialIdol. If your computer does not have a telephone modem installed in it, you cannot use DialIdol.

Hello Elliott fans, I have to say that I have only just started watching AI. I am English and have never really seen much of the show. My daughter happened to be watching the show last weekend and I heard Elliott singing. I have since surfed the net continuously and managed to listen to all of Elliott’s performance. I use dialidol – it dials in using a modem. Each call is individual, it is DIALED, so I don’t see how you can state that this is power-voting. These are individual calls.

Elliott Yamin does absolutely deserve to win this competition. It would be a victory not just for him but for the real talented people in this world that are overlooked by over-hyped, over-dressed, pretty, handsome, gimmicky, mediocraties that our society seems to fall for so readily. Elliot Fans: Of all the other “thread” pages, Elliott’s page has WAY by far the least amount of bashers of ANY kind and 99 percent favorable comments. This is great. But if Eileen (#489) is right and he sings “Unchained Melody” tonight……..(and does great as usual) I may just stop being a “Kat-Taylor” fan and become a “Kat-Elliot” one. Again, Sasha (#496) is right on track, too.

I would love to see Elliott win the whole thing as it would really be what AI should be about, an ordinary kid, with no pretentions, who has a great voice and is someone that the audience can relate to. The showmanship stuff is something that can be acquired with confidence, choreography and good management.

I cant believe what I just did today at work! I know for sure that I have all the symptoms of “YAMINITIS”. I work for Research Institute at Cedars and works with a bunch of dorky scientists. I just finished reading all the posts, I usually read at lunchtime and I still have Elliott fan comments fresh in my mind when a Doctor walked in and I cried, Hi Elliott!LMFAO. The dorky doctor just stared at me in bewilderment and asked me who is Elliott? I was gonna try and explain but I didnt think he’s the kind of doctor that can treat my YAMINITIS, so i just shoo him out. LOL

One thing is for sure, i certainly wouldn’t want to sit through a concert of him.
