We know Steven Spielberg wanted to meet with her, and Kat recently auditioned to play the love interest of Adrian Grenier on Entourage.

Tsk. Tsk. The touring bus is probably not good enough. Imagine if this diva had won. I think I was just cured of my McPheever.

Straight guys love her though, which on hindsight is quite smart of her. She knows her target audience won’t buy her music, but will buy the magazines or shows she’s going to appear sexy on. Hmmm. At least show up for the concerts Kat. It’s the least you can do for the fans before you start taking the path of Paris, Jessica and Lindsay — and good luck with that. If you abandon your Idol fans, who will you have left?

Dearest Fans,

It has come to my attention that there has been some concern about a photo shoot and my presence being missing from the tour. I want you all to know first before I get into this that I had no control over the fact that I couldn’t be on tour for the next couple of weeks. My doctor shut me down. I was absolutely devasted. I feel horrible for the fans that missed me and would love to make up to you all some how. But first and foremost I must get better so that I can have a great and long carreer. I want to be able to see you all your faces one day on my very own tour. There have been many rumors circulating as to what I’m doing with all this down time. I have heard a rumor that I will be missing the entire tour, I can assure you that that is completely false. I am looking to join the tour around the 21st. That is the doctors orders, not mine.

I hope everyone knows these crazy gossip websites make up stories to make money. It leaves all of you in question when they spread ridiculous rumors. Only believe it if it comes directly from me or my family. If it comes from somewhere else, then it probably isn’t true. Now that being said, I want people to know that I am NOT bed ridden. I’m no longer contagious. I don’t have to be a prisoner in my L.A. home. My management company is still trying to utilize this down time. That includes an upcoming photo shoot, meetings with song writers, listening to demos from all different studios and lots of late night movies!!!! (HEHE to occupy my time) I’m simply not allowed to talk. Please also understand that in the upcoming future there’s going to be TONS of rumors and mean things that people say and do to try and bring me down. Sadly, that’s just the way this business works. Just know that in the future I probably won’t be able to clarify everything that is said in the media.

I hope that this has cleared up some stuff. I’m still dedicated to my fans and putting out the best album possible for all my fans. I love you all and please know that I would never intentionally miss idol shows so I can work on my own individual career. The idol tour is my first priority. I want to get back as soon as I can. I have not said one word in over a week an a half. Believe me, I would much rather be healthy than not. I love you all sooooo much and look forward to seeing the rest of you on tour. Again, I’m so sorry for the dates I have missed thus far. I feel deeply connected to all my fans and am working this week on continuing working on the fan mail. That is also very important to me. Much love to you all.

American Idol runner-up Katharine McPhee has been getting a little extra TLC from her boyfriend, actor Nick Cokas. The 22-year-old singer, who has missed the first American Idols Live tour dates because of bronchitis and laryngitis, stopped by Cold Stone Creamery in Studio City with her beau on Thursday for a cool treat. Cokas, 41, ever the gentlemen, held the door open for his recovering sweetie as they entered the ice cream store, then held her purse as she snapped a photo with a fan.

Cokas, who was acting as McPhee’s caretaker and interpreter, told us that under the doctor’s orders, the singer will miss another few days of the tour â€šÃ„Ã¬ but hopes to join her fellow Idols by the time they reach Rochester, N.Y., on July 21.

In the meantime, McPhee will be treated like a princess by her beau.

Having been to the tour last Friday night in NJ, I will say that I didn’t miss her one bit. The other nine managed to put on a great show without her, and the boys did what I would say is the highlight of the show, Patience, in her honor. If her return means cutting that song, then they would be wise to keep her under doctor’s care for another month or two.

In her defense, I had bronchitis recently. Felt better after about 10 days, but didn’t fully recover my voice for about a month.

But is it too much to ask that she still be under doctor’s orders by the time the tour comes here to Indianapolis?

Rickey, I’m surprised at you posting such trash disguised as news. Have you ever had bronchitis? I have, and my daughter gets it regularly. It frequently takes 2-3 weeks to completely recover, and once I was on inhaled steroids for a month before I was breathing normally. Luckily, Kat’s case was not as severe, so she will be able to join the tour this weekend.

In a letter posted on fan site KatharineFans.com last week, the American Idol runner-up, who’s currently sitting out the Idols Live tour due to a case of laryngitis and bronchitis, attempted to debunk some of the rumors circulating about her.

Numerous Idol forums have debated endless conspiracy theories about the second-place finisher’s absence from the tour, including the completely unsubstantiated rumor that McPhee had pulled out entirely due to a disagreement with 19 Entertainment.

Much was also made over the fact that McPhee was apparently well enough to attend a Cosmo Girl photo shoot two weeks ago, the day after the tour kicked off without her in Manchester, New Hampshire.

But according to McPhee herself, she plans to rejoin the tour when her doctor gives her the go-ahead, and she was indeed well enough to sit for the magazine–she just couldn’t talk.

“I have heard a rumor that I will be missing the entire tour, I can assure you that that is completely false,” McPhee wrote. “I am looking to join the tour around the 21st. That is the doctors [sic] orders, not mine.

“I want people to know that I am NOT bed ridden. I’m no longer contagious. I don’t have to be a prisoner in my L.A. home. My management company is still trying to utilize this down time.”

In other words, she may not be able to sing, but McPhee is participating in other work-related activities that include “meetings with song writers, listening to demos from all different studios and lots of late night movies!!!!”

If McPhee recovers according to her own timeline, she should be rejoining the tour in Rochester, New York, this Friday, two days after she is scheduled to be a guest host on The View.

However, the 22-year-old singer stressed in her letter that the tour was her top priority, adding that she had not said a word in “over a week and a half.”

“I love you all and please know that I would never intentionally miss Idol shows so I can work on my own individual career,” she wrote.

We’re sure that’s music to McPheever fans’ ears.

I would think that a singer wouldn’t want to sing badly when she’s on tour. She is on a huge platform. Everyone that goes to the tour is going to hear her. If she ever has a chance of having a career at all, she needs to be at 100%.

well to be fair, I don’t think that bronchitis would keep from my job, (as an audio engineer I need to ears) but since she is a singer, bronchitis hurts her livelyhood. (i doubt the her pipes can emit such a powerful sound) but it she doesn’t need her lungs/throat to take a phtoto shoot. Put her life in a real world context, what we might do if we were sick.

I agree with the poster that said she could go on tour just to say hey to the fans, or wave since she can’t use her voice yet, although in the earlier stages of the bronchitis, she should not have or we would have even more Idols down for the count. Or before the docs told her to stop talking, she should have made a video to be played at the concerts she is not at saying something to the fans, just to give them/us a good vibe. I like Katharine and fully understand the whole don’t use your voice thing. I went through many throat battles in high school and couldn’t sing (My chorus teacher was not happy!) and most of the time couldn’t speak but didn’t miss school because of it. You don’t have to completely shut down because you’re ill, especially once you’re no longer contagious. I am sure if she holed herself up for the entirety of the time, people would gripe about that too. Give her a break.

Kat has been ordered by her doctor to miss the first part of the tour. Some believe she should go just to “wave,” but what they don’t understand is that Kat is not accountable for why that can’t happen. While she has time on her hands, they (Kat’s management team) are giving her work to do for her album and other aspects of her individual career. They would feel having her there is a waste of time and money for them if she will not be singing. It is useless to find blame in Kat in what she has no control over.

Kat is no longer contagious because she no longer HAS bronchitis. As of right now, she only has Laryngitis, so swimming in a pool and eating ice cream is not going to hurt her.

How predictable it is of some to seize upon a harmless statement that Kat has written and twist it into something it is not. Her vocal issues are serious, and if not taken care of properly, it could cause problems for her for the rest of her life. This is what was Kat is alluding to when she wrote that. So in order for her to have the CHANCE at a great career, she needs to utilize the present to fully recuperate.

By saying “this line popped out at me,” what you are truly saying is “I’ve found something I can irrationally use against an innocent person. Hooray!” So sad.

It wasn’t a harmless statement in that the tone was full of ego– and I don’t think she’s been around long enough to be able to make a claim about her long and great career. It just sounds wrong and utterly presumptious at this stage of her life to ask for understanding so she “can have a great and long career.” Those words need to be earned. Earn your accoldades. Work for them. I don’t care who wrote the comment– her PR person or McPhee herself. It just sounds rude and cannot endear people who were on the fence about her already. If you’re a fan, good luck and it’s your choice to believe her excuses. When you see her doing everything else -but- the first weeks of the tour, it is hard to believe she is under strict doctor’s orders. That’s a euphemism concocted by the McPhee camp. Much like someone who is fired stating he is leaving the company to pursue other interests. It’s semantics, all right. Those words spoke volumes to me. It’s not only what she said but how she said it. I don’t like phony people and when they start double-talking me, I find it hard to give them sympathy.

I am not here to tell you WHAT to believe. I just don’t. Stating my opinion. That’s what commenting on blogs is all about. Semantics lectures? I don’t think so. You don’t know me or who I am, so I’ll leave it at that. I like Rickey too much; this is not a place to start a… Kat Fight.

I was at the Rochester show on July 21st with my daughter and Katherine DID NOT perform. In fact, there was no mention of Katherine’s name at all. The boys (Chris, Ace, Bucky and Elliot) did sing a group song, but they did not dedicate it to Katherine. I found it very strange that her name was never brought up during the show.

I, too, was at the Rochester, NY concert. No mention of K.M. nor any pictures flashed up on the screen etc etc. She was hoping to be back by 7-21 but a few days before that it was…..the doctors say not for another week or so. I used to defend Kat against the bashers but today I find good comments by both sides listed above……such as vomiting 7 times a day wouldn’t allow you to keep such beautiful teeth…..drinking cold fluids when one has laryngitis…etc. Well, why is it that the site sirlinks a lot.com has the article including this…..”McPhee, Nicholas Cokas, Robert Hawk, Angelina Bruno and Jeff Kasal are presenting Red Herring, a new play by Michael Albanese. Jonathan Silverstein will direct the production, which will run at the Connelly Theatre Aug. 12-26.” I find it rather odd that she will be able to do this AND go back on the tour around those dates. But I am willing to wait and see what happens next week.

I am so glad u didn’t win the contest cause if you were the American Idol I would be sick for a year. I think since u were not at the concert they should Have gotten Chicken Little to take your place. By the way in you missed a great concert. more haters….this is cool. j/k. say what you want guys, but this girl is undeniably awesome. beautiful, talented….too out-spoken, hence usually misinterpreted. it’s easy to judge her, but you can never be sure. i know a non-fan who met her several times and she can’t believe how sweet and funny kat was. oh well, i voted for her…my whole family did. we love her and we’re seeing her in concert this week.

Kat is back! this is the only thing that matters…..I don’t care about the haters because there’s nothing that can make them say good stuff about her. Why waste my time “fighting” or defending Kat. All I know is that I’ll see her in concert soonâ€šÃ„Â¶.get a copy of her full-length albumâ€šÃ„Â¶.watch her movies in the futureâ€šÃ„Â¶.and a lot more. I’ll enjoy every minute of it.

I got proof on page 74- ” Now i have my new battles to face,like how am going to breakout of American Idol?” Kat says. What NOW KATHARINE booyah!!! Bsshhh!!! To that.
