American Idol Season 8 Top 03

Last week, we had six performances from 4 contestants, and this week we again had six, this time from the Top 3. For the first time this season, the performers all had multiple solos, something I wasn’t sure was going to happen. And, for the first time in a long while, the talk after the performance show was not the gifted Adam Lambert, but instead the gutsy Kris Allen, the one Simon had discounted in several interviews in the last few days as unworthy, and his cover of a Kanye West tune. Kris was the high-point of the night for many.

The question is will that be enough to overcome the judge’s desire to see an Adam/Danny final next week? Certainly, Kris has momentum on his side, but is it too little too late? Polls across the internet certainly seem to imply it was, as Kris is in a strong position to edge out Danny for the finals, if EW, MSNBC, VoteNummber1.Com, Dial Idol, and this very site. But these polls haven’t been the most reliable, considering last week they also put Danny out the door, yet it was Allison who joined the press tour.

‘A Night At the Museum’ gets the opening pimp spot, and it was funny, yet a little drawn out. Crusty is out, and announces over 88 million votes came in. 1 million separating the top two tonight. The judges are introduced, and we hear that Jordin Sparks and Katie Petty are in the house tonight.

The Ford video is up, with some live action to cartoon transitions to ‘Break My Stride’. Alicia Keyes comes out to talk about the great work of Idol Gives Back, and introduces ‘Noah’ from Rwanda. Wow, he isn’t singing live, interesting. They pan the stage from behind the judges, and Simon is practically leaning on Paula – hmmmmm. Noah can dance, though. You can text in a donation, as well as buy Noah’s performance on iTunes. Next up, the homecoming visits.

First out is Danny Gokey, and he is unsure what to feel. And they talk about Jamar. We see the clips, and Danny crying, and we get to the Ryan recap, only to have Danny sent to the sofa and Kris is brought out. And they are playing ‘Everybody Wants To Rule The World’ which is an odd choice — I happen to know there was a better song out there, and they took the trite route [Sorry Tom]. There is a beautiful scene with Kris’ father, and with the entire family. And it is off to the couch after the recap. Next up, Jordin Sparks and more results.

Jordin comes out to sing her new single, ‘Battlefield’, with cowriter Ryan Tedder [of OneRepublic] on the piano. It goes rather well.

The commercial break is here, and Glee is on there. I just love the promotions, and can’t wait for the show!

Adam is up next, and there is plenty of Southern California love. There is plenty of cheers and tears, ending with the Star Spangled Banner in front of a huge flag. The recap and the couch follow, with a commercial interlude and Katie Perry before the results.

Danny wants it to be over, and to hear the news. Adam wants to hear Katie Perry. LOL Katie’s latest single, ‘Waking Up In Vegas,’ is our next treat. She looks kinda like Wonderwoman in Elvis drag. Katie certainly sounds better than I have heard her before, I’ll give her that. And a commercial break before we find out who is in the finale.

And we are back, with all three guys center stage with Ryan. The first person competing next week is Kris Allen. The crowd goes wild. That leave 2. The person competing with Kris is Adam Lambert! Danny is leaving us tonight. The polls were right. Kara looks shocked. There is the look at the road to here, and they can’t help bringing up a picture of the wife. And he sings ‘You Are So Beautiful To Me.’ Simon says this could be a ‘big ding-dong’ next week.’ What?

Oh yes, Kris! He slayed Danny the Dragon!!

What a show! I’m so glad! Not to be mean to Danny, but he had it coming. Kris waaayy out performed Danny last night and the voters obviously agree.

Adam will win AI this year, but Kris fought like crazy for the runner up position which may be even harder that the title.

Simon said at the end of the show that a “ding dong” doesn’t mean anything bad and what I interpreted it to mean from what he said to Ryan is that it’s anyone’s game at this point and Kris could perhaps pull off an upset against Adam. I love them both. Will be voting for Kris but will be equally as happy if Adam wins!

Kris and Adam–perfect!! Am so happy! Can’t believe that Kris got what the judge’s deemed as Danny’s spot! But Adam deserves to win, based on pure, inate talent. still love Kris–he is my 2nd fav!

I bursting out into tears, screaming, when they announced Adam was safe. For the last 24 hours I have been a wrek waiting to learn Adam’s fate.

Now, since Danny has gone, my stress levels are through the roof.

Because AI has, incidently, turned into a popularity contest and not a competition based on talent, I’m afraid that The Adam backlash and the hate from a majority of Danny fans will boost Kris’s votes through the roof and they will crown him the winner.

My loyalty is with Adam and always will be. I will always love him and his gift and I hope that other casual viewers from AI will see Adam’s talent and realize how much he deserves this.

It will not matter if Adams take 1st or 2nd he will out sell Kris Allen any day of the week.Kris Allen has squeaked by to many times in AI. Scott performance was way better then Allens on that week Scott was voted off Kris Allen again managed to squeak and slither by.I real though Danny Gokey was way better then Kris Allen but again he squeaks by real sicking!

I am so hapy with the results. And so glad that the judges were disappointed, they have been pimping an Adam /Danny finale. HAHA! No offense but Adam is too theatrical, if you liked all this yelling that some think is singing please vote for him, who cares. I will never buy anything he sings anyway. Kris is talented and you can understand and enjoy what he is singing. He does not have to wear weird make up earrings and act to be a good singer. Kris deserved to be in the finale. So we hope that Adam wins so that Kris can sell more records and be more popular. WE know what the final outcome will end being. Adam for the judges (been through this before) who cares.

Kris is nice, but ADAM is a star. Americans have to VOTE for ADAM. He is definitely the most diverse, chameleon-like and talented. Kris hides behind his instruments – really, he’s had two or three good songs all season. Adam kills it every week. A study in contrasts, with ADAM shining. And I didn’t see either Gokey or Allen praise Adam, as Adam praised the other two last night. Such an unselfish guy!

Only time will tell if Adam or Kris will sell more CDs in the future, and my crystal ball doesn’t work that well. All THREE contestants acted with grace and dignity, and perhaps some of you could take a cue from your own favorite and do the same. Take a moment and enjoy the success of Adam and Kris, or celebrate the great run for Danny. As for the winner next week – it isn’t won here on a blog, but on a stage next week. May both Kris and Adam have a great night and offer up a stellar finale.

Adam is Jordin who is the obvious winner for the season…

and Kris is Blake who is the dark horse of the competition and should never be counted out.

Ding Dong is british slang for – argument or fight. You could say that Simon was warning Adam that this may be a wake up call and that he may be in for a fight with Kris.
If you are a fan of either Adam or Kris, you must vote because there was only one million votes separating the two. I like Kris, but I love Adam.

DING-DONG is a phrase used in horse racing, about how two horses are so close to the finish line. Now, imagine how the two horses’s heads move forward and backward while running. Sometimes, even if a horse seems to be taking the lead, right at the moment of crossing the finish, its head is hold back and the horse that is second has its head push to the front and MAKES THE WIN.

Now do you see what Simon means? simply, Kris might win! it’s a bloody close game!

Good one clare! that makes sense. What a metaphor but quite apt in this situation.

I have no doubt in my mind that adam and kris will be great. It’s time for people to stop discounting kris’ talent and his knack of picking songs that suit him. If anything, that was his edge over danny – being able to choose the best songs for his range and what is relevant at this time.

But the bottomline is, AI is both a talent competition and a popularity contest. One cannot do without the other (case in point, Alexis Grace and Allison Iraheta). So whoever you want to be the next Idol, vote for him! As for me, I’m going Adam all the way!!! ADAM FTW!!!

Although Kris is rather cute and sings nicely, Adam is the star!!! He’s got personality!! He’s controversial, he makes people think, and that’s what music is all about. Kris Allen is indifferent, he doesn’t change anything, he’s like many, many singers who just are there. I’d maybe buy a song or two of him, but never the entire cd and I’d never go to his concert! We don’t need another singer like that! On the other hand, Adam is a genius! He has everything an artist needs and he will certainly have his own place in music’s industry! He’s got charisma, voice, personality, style, beauty, difference! No matter what he does, people talk about him! We don’t need another vegetable singer, we need a star!
