I don’t get how they justify giving Adam the pimp/closing slot so many times? It’s just such a blatant favoritism… they’re trying to force us to assume he’s the best, as he almost always gets to close the show, even when his song is not one of the best. Personally, I find him the best “groomed-for-success” in terms of his character, swagger, and star-power package, but his singing?? Gaaakkk…. all he does is screech and sing in complete falsetto… Tonight I was actually cringing; it hurt my ears. But the obvious pimping of the repeated show-closer slot is something I don’t remember any other contestant having before. How many closers did Alison have? One??

Gokey needs to go. His performances are mediocre, he’s even trying too hard on the first one, screaming and shouting only.

Although Kris wasn’t very impressive on his first one, the 2nd song was THE BEST in the whole episode. Like Randy, I too prefer Kris’ vers than the original.

As long as Adam is safe tonight I could care less about anything else. He has to make it to finale, HAS TO. I hope he got the votes.
I’d rather he duke it out with nice guy Kris in the end though over Danny, I couldn’t stand the smug smile of Danny if he won…ugh, I really can’t help disliking Danny – why does he have to keep being so icky!!?!

There are THREE people left – are you seriously going to forget any of them? The pimp slot makes zero difference at this stage. And even looking at previous rounds, it was always your PERFORMANCE that determined the outcome. Anoop and Lil got the ‘pimp’ placements and went straight home. I am so sick of Adam getting the backlash when the producers are the ones that deserve it. He has NO control over any of it.

I’m worried for Adam because tonight because I thought last night was his weakest night since the start of the Season so he would not have gained any votes from casual viewers. He was definitely off, I wonder why. None of the guys were amazing although Kris’ Heartless was the best of the night. The fact that Adam’s high notes were overly shrill makes me think he’s starting to strain his voice. The backstage dancer also said he was very, very nervous. It’s like his high notes are a reflex for him when his panic kicks in. He ripped out his ear piece during Cryin’ as well and actually looked in pain. Was he having trouble hearing himself? Or was it the backing singer who for some reason decided to oversing him and started screaming lmao? Anyway, if he gets through next week, he NEEDS to use his lower register because it is absolutely incredible. Someone really needs to tell him this! I wonder why Simon didn’t?

I actually liked Gokey’s second song but I hope he’s the one leaving tonight, the other two have for me been WAY more enjoyable, creative, musically acute and sweet. My gut feeling still tells me Adam is in trouble. IMO, he 100% deserves to win so much based on overall body of work (studio recordings included that differ so much artistically in comparison to his live performances). But, may the best man win.

I think his song Heartless was for the judges and how they have been treating him this whole time. All the judges ever do is bicker and make jokes and stupid comments when Kris is up there.

I am an international fan that can only see this show at night after going home from work. After I watch the entire performance completely, I found that Danny’s voice and performance is actually better than Kris (I’m an Adam’s fan). This morning I read the forum and I got influenced by opinions that say how incredible Kris was. I put Kris above Danny in my ranking.
Sorry to Kris’ fan, but in my objective opinion, Kris’ voice sounds mediocre .. his falsetto is weak and he missed some notes in both songs. So, I think Danny deserves in the final more than Kris. This is a singing competition after all. But I give kudos for his creativity.

Wow! Thanks Heather!!! I can’t vote since I live in Germany And don’t get the show live. The judges are totally setting Adam up to win. That’s what they do. The pick their favorites and the praise them no matter what they do. I really wish Adam would leave I think his voise is weird and very annoying. Too high and screechy. Danny and Kris totally deserve to be in the finale.

My guess is that it’s really close with Kris and Danny. Kris really deserves to be in the top 2 (especially after last night), but I have this horrible feeling that Danny might be safe. Of course, I had a horrible feeling that Kris was going home last week… I still voted for Kris though. I don’t understand why anyone would want him to go home after “Heartless”.

I sure hope the Dial Idol numbers from last night are correct.

Nothing against Danny, but I really think Kris at this point, deserves to be in the finale.

Kris was gave a more memorable than Danny last night and should stay.

Adam was great and will win this competition, the real battle now is for 2nd place.

I wish people would stop complaining about Adam being pimped…….HE CLEARLY IS THE MOST TALENTED SINGER EVER TO GRACE THE IDOL STAGE.

He has toned down what he’s capable of just to appease those that can’t grasp anything original and out of the box.

What you see is what you get with Danny/Kris. They are performing at their best which doesn’t say very much. They are average singers “at most”. Unlike Adam, both of them will be as successful as the past contestants. Nothing special with average records that only Idol watchers will purchase.

Adam is going to be a MegaStar and has earned and deserves any compliment given to him as well as the title. Anything less would be an insult to him as well as any talented musician.

Tired of one hit wonders and average or bad singers being mass marketed.

Next year Idol should ban singers from singing the songs as originally written to weed out the untalented. That means Gokey would have booted weeks ago….he completely karaoke.

Adam/Kris in the finale with Adam being crowned the title although it should have been Adam/Allison in the finale.

Kris will probably go home although it really should be Danny going home. Kris is more talented than Danny. Unfortunately, the judges have been gunning for a Gokey/Lambert finale almost since the beginning. Actually, in the beginning it was a Gokey/? finale. The question mark was filled in with Lambert a little later in the competition.

We actually wanted an Allison/Adam finale. Allison sounded really, really good on her “swan” song. I will buy her CD before I ever buy Danny’s CD–and, I am not a true “rock” fan.

I hope that I am pleasantly surprised and that Kris’ fans voted nonstop.

@ hifi2020-mark -I totally agree. The judges always seem to be at their immature worst when Kris is up. Before someone points out that they’ve been stupid w/other contestants, I know they have. It just seems to go on and on when Kris is there. Like they don’t respect him or something.

Just for fun, my friends and I checked the DialIdol numbers every few minutes to see how they were tracking the race. The first numbers showed 1. Adam, 2. Danny, & 3. Kris. About 30 minutes later, Kris slipped into 2nd place — and we all cheered! The final numbers have Adam & Kris in the finale. That would be so cool. The numbers, however, are within the margin of error, and, of course, DialIdol isn’t always right. They do have a pretty good track record, though. They actually predicted Alexis going out early, and I was stunned when it actually happened.

I hope Kris made it through. I enjoy his performances and would like to see him and Adam again.

Memo to the judges: Keep your hands to yourselves and cut the stupid crap at the table. You don’t need to be dead serious, but please make an effort to at least pretend you have some respect for the singers as they stand there waiting for their critiques.

Save Kris!!

I only got 406 in this week. That’s more than 100 fewer than last week because it was so busy on all three of his numbers in Adam’s hometown. I’m sure everyone’s numbers were clogged with extraordinarily eager voters.

I’m cynically prepared for Kris to go home tonight. Everyone expects it. The press did their best to ignore him as a competitor this weekend. The judges did their damnedest to toss him under the bus.

My dream is the GO in Gokey finally happens.

The only genuine “shock” elimination tonight would be Adam and, of course, people would blame Kris. *rollseyes*

Very disappointingly I actually thought Adam sleepwalked through last night and fell into a bit of theater performance mode. Danny did best on his own song choice which he should be congratulated on.

Adam seemed a bit…off. His first performance was still really, really good, but it was not his best. He seemed to be back to himself on his second performance, though, which I loved!

Kris had a pretty great night. According to public reaction and DialIdol, things are looking good for Kris. I think he’s in!

Danny was boring and forgettable. I think he’s out!

Danny and Kris should be in Finale….. Adam is good but the guys has been singing in a band on stage for a few yrs now in Ca. Hes just trying to get signed by someone and im sure thats taken care of now…… His performance last night sucked big time and he butchered “Cryin” and Steven Tyler should be pissed…. Danny and Kris deserve to be there, With Kris taking home the gold…… Either way, Top three will get signed by someone……. And for the record…. Danny goes home tonight, but Kris will win the big prize, I think. The reason? Adam is a bit much, just enough outside the comfort zone of the voting demographic. No question about his talent but a little over the top, to theatrical. A broadway star for sure, and will sell millions of CDs, but not the model for American Idol. Remember folks, this is all about $. Follow the money. This is big business. Really big business. Whomever will make the most money for the “19″ enterprise.

That’s all I care about, too, Rickey. I hope we did it! I voted the full two hours, pressing redial nonstop. And last week, all my votes went to Allison (not because I don’t love Kris – he’s been my second favorite all season – but because I was trying to save my girl). So my votes are votes that Kris didn’t have last week and I know there are other Allison fans who also voted for Kris. Contrary to popular belief, not ALL Allison fans are fans of Adam.

But anyway, I really hope Kris makes it. He definitely deserves to. But for some reason, I have a vision of Danny being declared safe first and then it coming down to Adam/Kris…with Kris going home. I hope I’m wrong, but for some reason, that keeps playing in my head. lol

Within two seconds of winning the press will publish his drag queen and tongue-kissing another guy photos, and the interviews will begin, quotes from his father, comments from his first grade teacher, trying to get comments from the judges, and on and on. Instead of the positives of American Idol the focus will be on drag queens and gays, and everything else except what is important.

While I didn’t think Adam’s Cry performance was great, I’m still keeping hope alive that Danny goes home tonight. And, Ace, sorry to disagree, but Adam is the money-maker in this group. Why? Because he’s so unbelievably versatile. They will be able to do whatever they want to with him. He can do opera if he wants for pete’s sake. The finale is when the big votes come out – people who never voted before jump in for their favorites and Adam will win by a landslide. If there is any justice, Kris will be #2.

Ace, the media do love scandal. Still, those photos have been on the ‘net for weeks and they clearly haven’t hurt Adam in the competition. Some media will harp on the fact that Adam is gay, but that’s hardly a late-breaking bulletin.

19E would love to have Adam on its roster. He’s the guy who’s been selling the most Idol downloads (Kris comes in 2nd). That’s a sign that he has the potential to sell CDs and downloads of original music, and his stage presence suggests that he’ll be a big concert draw. Simon says, “CHING!”

I think the strain of AI effected all the guys last night. They all looked tired to me.
I think the voting was probably real close last ngiht. Adam, Danny and Kris as all very different and appeal to different people. Kris may not have the greatest vocals, but he is charming and creative. He will end up doing some soft rock and writing some good songs. Adam has great vocal ability and seems really nice, but his style might be too much for some (even though I totally enjoy that about him.) He will be a Bowie, Prince, Lady GaGa type of entertainer. Danny seems nice and wants to do things to help people, but he comes across as uncomfortable in the world outside the sheltered enviroment he came from. He will end up as a contemporay Christian artist.
I think in the end, they will all end up doing what they have always wanted to do whether they win or not. That was the reason they tried out for AI in the first place.

OMG…I can’t stand to hear Adam’s screeching and look at his face while he does it…he always has this dramatic, too over the top looking screaching expression! It is a MAJOR turn off in an artist – go ahead and join theatre but I don’t want to see or hear him sing again!! Sorry

I only want to say that I am sad that Allison is no longer there, and that Gokey has to go! I mean Go Go GoAway Gokey.

Have any of you seen the episode of Friends when Ross wants to play bagpipes at Chandler’s and Monica’s wedding? At the end Ross is painfully attempting to play Celebration and asks the gang to sing along…..and Phoebe starts shrieking EEEEEEEEEEE along with the bagpipes. It is hilarious and not even Jennifer Aniston could hold herself back from just cracking up, although she was trying.

Well, Gokey reminds me of this sound/voice every time he sings, especially when he tries to hit high and loud notes. My Dad and I just sit there and go EEEEEEEEEE just like Phoebe. This too is hilarious and is the only way to make Gokey entertaining.

Adam’s performances last night were both briliant. His vocals are out of this world.

I still think Adam and Danny are the two best vocalists in this competition. Kris is musically talented but not good enough of a singer with star quality.

i’m sure someone will try to track me down and “commit” me to an instution for even thinking this, but if the Dial Idol numbers are even remotely accurate, I am still not convinced that Adam will survive. I think he could go.

If that is the case, then they WILL decide to put all three of them in the Finale.

First I am going to say I thought they are all great. I think Adam had an off night last night and Kris stood out and Danny was Danny.

Whenever I look at internet polls online I always give a slight advantage to Gokey on top of them. He is always underestimated online in regards to his fan base.

All things considered, I’d be OK with a three way tie right now and calling it a day. I do not like being addicted to American Idol.

I like kris best! he seems real down to earth and has amazing talent. i haven’t paid much attention till recently b/c i got so tired of the treatment they gave david A last yr. unfortunatley as i read about this year and listen to the judges comments i see the kris getting the same treatment. so no matter what kirs has long life of music ahead of him.

Check out the Geopredictions on DialIdol. In display of the “losing” states, Gokey has lost more than the other two — i.e., has come in last in those states. In the “winning” states (where contestant tops the other two) Gokey is FAR below Adam and Kris. Of course, then it comes down to which states, population-wise, each is losing or winning; plus, how many actual voters exist who never even heard of DialIdol much less used it.

That report also shows Danny losing in Wisconsin. However, a newspaper poll came out showing who voted for danny and it was a 65% Danny / 25% Adam / 10% Kris split. Just goes to show you how little DI means. We’ll see tonight.

Man I hope Adam goes home. There’s nothing worse than thinking he may be the next AI. His girly shrilly scream has got to go. I guarntee you he won’t be around for more than 6 months after the show and he will be forgotten. He sounds like he’s trying to break glass everytime he sings. If you look at DialIdol in Wisconsin you will also see Kris had about 30 calls on each of his three lines, Danny had over 1,000 on each. Yet it estimates Kris wins because of busy signals it received on those 30 calls… which can be very deceiving. The tool is highly inaccurate.

My strong belief: Adam will be outed by America. Why? His two songs were more shouting, screaming than true, beautiful singing (take note of Heartless by Kris Allen) and America will give Adam notice only for this reason.

It is a singing competition!! Gokey and Allen, they were really truly singing in the best of the word singing means, no matter the way they performed their two songs.

Adam could have sung his two songs much more instead of screaming, shouting them out too much than singing them.

Hover over Wisconsin to see the stats. The Dial Idol difference between Adam and Danny in that state is minuscule (at least for the DI score in that state.)

Backtracking….The “win” or “loss” for each state is determined by DI scoring rather than actual votes. (Takes into account busy signals etc.) Hovering over Wisconsin shows a LOT more actual votes for Danny however, which might match up with the newspaper’s findings, who knows.

I understand the theory behind measure the dial tones (and it is a sound theory), I am just saying, again, the lower the numbers the less accurate these results are. Wisconsin definitely voted Danny over Kris (as any home town state will vote for their contestant), but to even measure the busy signals on 30 calls… DialIdol is not getting enough data right now to report accurately.

I read on the DI forum that the geopredictions + the busy percentages together have been a better indicator than the bland DI scoring most people look at.

I am just throwing this out there, but DI should also include calculations based on when those votes were cast (maybe they do). Obviously, with any AI set, their must be a weight to calls getting through in the beginning (getting busy signals in the last half hour means a LOT more than busy signals up front). I digress… It is interesting. I have used DialIdol myself, but for whatever reason my statistics are never reported to the server.

I agree with post#70 where last season 7 top 3 was much better with the two Davids and Syesha. I couldn’t have said it better myself. David Archuleta was fantastic and I thought that the AI 7 summer tour was so great I went to see it 3 times, this summer I won’t be going to see the tour at all.

Remember, he did land in the bottom 2.
(There has been debate about that. But Ryan specifically asked Jamie Foxx: so, do you think these guys deserved to be the bottom 2? Foxx, of course, sidestepped the question.)

There has been speculation all day that they will put all three of them into the Finale because of the close vote. I think that is a distinct possibility if either Adam or Gokey have fewer votes than Kris and one of them would be the one leaving.

But I may say .. this is really an interesting top 3. They have different styles and appeal…

Adam is really popular. His performance has been very unpredictable in AI. Even the kind of hair he will wear each week is something i look forwars to. He has proven that he can sing any song thrown on him without effort. But he is a total performer.

Kris possesses this cool voice. A great mix of last season’s Jason Castro and David Cook (as far as coming up with a novel arrangement of songs he performs). And I guess Kara’s intention for giving a popular song as “Apologize” for him to sing last night was for him to come up with a fresh version that could really make him stand out. He has gread musicality although his voice is not as powerful as that of Adam Lambert.

Danny Gokey has a soulful voice. I just love the tone of his voice. Yes he may have left a mark in AI hsitory for singing the worst note ever, as many people would say, but he managed to laugh at himself afterwards. I really appreciate his effort to also do some awkward dance moves for upbeat songs without compromising his vocals. And i would have wanted him to win this competition not because Adam or Kris is not as good as him. I just love his voice and that’s why I’m voting for him.

These three deserve to be where they are now. For thier supporters, instead of calling your idol’s competition’s names and loathe them for posing as a challenge to your bets, why not just say great things about your favorite contestant, cast your votes to them like there’s no tomorrow and enjoy the show.

In fact, I think that might be a key to how well Kris has done. He has been listed at the bottom of Dial Idol a few times and second-to-last on DI as well. Yet he was never in the bottom 2.

It seems Danny is leaving today… I was always under the impression that he was a bit overestimated in the dial idol (maybe he has less texters than the others). If he is the lower in DI + DI Geo, which do not consider text, it is probably his time to go.

I only hope it is not Adam. AI would lose a lot of credibility… and I like Kris, but he has no star quality and has a so so to bad voice… sorry, apologize was painful… I dont know what people seem in him. If he stays, it is not only because of yesterday, but also because there was a significant anti-Danny vote in his behalf. Which will not be needed next week.

Anyway, if Adam leaves, I am sure the international fans, in special in Europe, will know how to appreciate him properly. Seems they are more open-minded about his kind of music…

Also, what was with the sound mix on Adam’s performance of Crying? And why did he rip out his earpiece — I can only guess that he was getting the same loud levels for the backup vocalists. People who were there send the backup vocal level was fine, and nothing like the broadcast.

The myth of Ryan saying that Adam was in the Bottom 2 continues — Ryan never said that Adam was “in the Bottom 2″ he just asked if Foxx thought he belonged in the Bottom 2. And Nigel stated after the Top 5 show that the producers only know the Bottom 3 and the Bottom 1.

abercrombieco2- That is my opinion about last year’s top 3 and yes I stand by what I say and season 7 top 3 is still 300% better than this years top 3. I hope Danny and Adam are both safe tonight. Danny sings the type of music that I like and it seems like Danny and Adam are being raked over the coals being torn apart for no reason. I nothing against any of the top 3. I wish them all well. Instead of people tearing the top 3 apart to shreds, we should be appreciating the music and what each Adam,Danny and Kris brings us each week. Each contesant offers something different for everyone. That’s what is so special about the three of them because they each have their own style and flair
and they put their own spin on every performance. Embrace their individuality and uniqueness for all three are winners and will have record deals.

I just realized that someone else has been posting under the same name as I was, so I had to change it. Especialy since they’re all about Gokey and I’m a Glambert all the way. But I respect everyone’s opinion, just don’t want anyone getting confused.

Anyway, I voted more than 500 times for Adam last night. Before my highest number of votes was like, 30, so I hope all my hard work pays off!

I don’t care who is the other in the finale (though I think Kris is a little better than Gokey), just as long as Adam is there.
