I watched the video….the sound was better quality and it still was not good. What did the song in was Danny doing the little “da-do-do-do’s” in the middle of the song. Bad idea!

I can’t believe there are some people on this site that actually thought Danny’s performance tonight was good. That’s hilarious to me! It was the absolute worst performance I’ve seen in a long time from anyone on AI. That ending was just painful and awful! He totally chose a song that was wrong for him. He never seems to chose any contemporary songs. How about a contemporary rock song? What was he thinking?? He showed all Idol fans tonight than he CAN NOT sing any kind of song! So much for his versatility. I’m going to listen to the video to see if it sounds as bad as it did on TV. Also, Danny seemed to lack confidence at the beginning of the song and looked a little scared or something when looking in the camera, and he was off key many times! Too bad, because he sounded great in the duet, and if his fans give up on him for one bad ending to a song, then that will be a shame. What is really absurd is that the recap only features those final notes. Apparently, AI has it in for Danny now. If he leaves tomorrow night, Adam’s fans should not get too confident. Wow, I’ve been watching AI since season 4 and this is the worst performance I’ve ever seen. Danny looked uncomfortable and was totally unbelievable singing this. And the sound! It was painful, like cats being thrown in the blender. What was funny was watching the judges try to critique Danny in a positive way without actually addressing how awful it was. (My cat fled the room upon hearing that scream. I’ve never seen that happen before.) And as for the performance earning an A+? I told my husband we should go on Idol next week. We can’t sing, but hey, as long as we try really hard, we should get an A+ from the judges. Finally, for those saying that at least Danny took a risk this time, a risk is only worthwhile when it pays off. This absolutely did not.

DJ Jay, I get that the producers want Danny in the finale, but you’d think they’d actually want a winner who is different, who stands apart from the other winners. Danny most definitely does not do that. He has always reminded me of Taylor Hicks. Yes, the voice is different, but the similarities are still there for me. Danny’s performance was a disaster from beginning to end — one of the worst Idol performances ever, as others have said. The other three were way better tonight. Kris will go home tomorrow and he deserves to go home. Granted this is not Gokey’s genre, but guys, have you ever actually heard “Dream On”? Gokey’s scream at the end was exactly like Steven Tyler’s – it was dead on with how Tyler sang it in the original. I think you need to take a deep breath and resign yourself to the fact that he is probably going to win, not because of his back story but because he is the best all around singer this season. It has nothing to do with the judges, it’s the 32-47M people who vote (as opposed to worshiping Adam on this blog) every week.

People are going to vote for Danny and here is why. If Danny gets voted off tomorrow he has to sing Dream On again. If that happens we have to sit through “the Final Note” again. I am a fan of Aerosmith AND Dream On is one of my favorite songs. He slaughtered it… I haven’t heard anything so terribly slaughtered since I started watching this show. I don’t really care if he was taking a risk; the risk was not well thought out. Even Slash was skeptical he’d be able to hit that final note.

OMG that had to be one of the worst performances ever.
I like Danny’s voice, but seriously, his screeching was seriously hurting my ears and sounded to me like nails on a chalk board. Or when you take a metal fork and scrape it against a plate.
That was AWFUL. Someone should’ve stopped him from doing that. You can do that song WITHOUT having to impersonate Steven Tylers way of singing it.
And that is exactly what Danny was trying to do. No imagination at all…. just a bad BAD impersonation.

He had a good idea, but he shoulda actually found out how to scream before he went into it. That was completely the WRONG way to do it, and let down what was looking up to be a great performance.

Everyone disappointed me this week, except Kris , who can’t disappoint because it’s a miracle he’s still in. This performance sealed it up, and I’m not sure I’ll be paying attention until they announce the winner 2 weeks from now.

Maybe Danny is a master at this game and will be laughing all the way to the finals. He has enjoyed high numbers up until this week. As long as he did well enough this week to keep most of his fans, take some of Matt’s fans, and, with that final note (perhaps on purpose – perhaps a secret joke that amuses him – the irony), shore up the VFTW votes – a vote is a vote in this game – he may have just made the best strategic move to ensure he gets through to the final

Being in the final 4, if you’re going to try something new, make SURE it will work. Otherwise there will be a huge backlash on what you will do. That final note was just awful. (Thank God for the mute button.)

And don’t even give the reason that the theme does not suit his voice as other contestants from previous seasons have managed to work around a theme night to suit their voice.

And also, giving an “A+ for effort” at this point of the competition is just plain BS.

Yeah, Danny’s last note was terrible(even though the crowd seemed to love the performance), but no one got a real rehearsal tonight. I think that really hurt Kris & Danny the most. I thought their duet was pretty good. Adam had better songs to sing. And we all know the rock stuff is his strength. Adam did stink it up on country week so everyone’s entitled to an off night.

Guess what, no one got a dress rehearsal. So they were all on an even playing field. It wasn’t as if Danny was the only one who didn’t get his practice in. You are all bringing up Ring of Fire, from 6 weeks ago. Don’t confuse not liking the interpretation of the song with singing ability. Adam was able to find the notes (several) and move between them effortlessly. Danny just did not have the range to pull this off. Bad song choice, bad vocals, and once again the smug attitude when he was done (clapping for that?? you don’t clap for yourself).

Here is how I see it with Danny. I think it just reinforces the point that even Danny knows that Adam is getting worldwide attention and can’t even compete with him. Adam is just a rare performer that doesn’t come around to often. That is not knocking Danny’s talent. But I think Danny wants to be like Adam and get all that attention- the problem is he can’t be like Adam to get it. He shouldn’t try. He should be himself. He obviously doesn’t know who he is as an artist or maybe he is nothing more than a lounge act and doesn’t have what it takes to go further- sure he can sing when he is singing as Danny and not trying to sing as Adam. One thing is clear- he is not ready to be crowned Amercian Idol- he has no idea of who he is or he feels who he really is won’t be enough and has to copy the most popular contestant. That was just aweful last night. What was he thinking. He could have done really well if he didn’t try to be something he is not.

But doesn’t matter- I am an Adam Fan and he is my Rock God and the only one I vote for.

Danny has been successful by being squarely in the middle. Never taking a chance or pushing himself. He has never WOW’d us because he can’t. We now know why, he is perfect for a middle of the road Christian rock band. He can’t WOW us like LIL or ADAM. He can’t impress with his SOUL like MATT or even Anoop (dare I say it). Who else agrees that the judges tore Anoop apart on so-so performances and gave him luke-warm reviews on great performances. Gokey performs one of the worst renditions of Dream On and possibly the worst note ever hit in Idol history and he still gets praise. I can’t even imagine what they would have said to Anoop if he delivered a performance like this back when he was still in the running. Who agrees?

I don’t know how Danny made it this far anyway. I thought he was bad since the very beginning. I would never buy anything he would ever record. He just sounds terrible. He sounds like he is singing with gum in his mouth and the last piece he swallowed is still stuck in his throat. I don’t know what the judges see in him. They have raved over some really bad performances in the past, and this absolutely awful performance they still were not hard on him.

@GKhosa, i agree.Simon badly wants his prediction of adam/danny finale to be right. The man is senile and partial. Not a good characteristic for a judge. And ppl talk about his “honesty”. He’d call a white cow black without wincing. Simon has been hard on anoop and now kris too, for no other reason than he wants to be right all the time. As for the standing O’s he has given, he never gave one for susan boyle, gave one for adam and also one for a stripper named fabia cerra in britain’s got talent. So, what really is his value, he’s just a jerk that america loves.

oh wow. honestly this song should be a good song for him but…he just did all the wrong stuff with it. not enough of HIM came out in his vocals, it was very plain and ordinary…even his voice sounded off. i was gonna say…why would vote for the worst pick him, he can sing his ass off…and then i saw this. :-\
