Yes, Simon has a hidden agenda. He know Kris is popular, he knows Kris has never been in the bottom 3 and he knows Kris is the only one who can save us from the dull Gokey.

Kris has been selling more than Gokey, Kris has delivered great performances over the course of the season, the fact is that Simon likes vocal acrobatics and Kris knows himself too well not to do that (and I’m grateful for it).

Danny hasn’t been that consistant in song choices, or making them original like adam and kris do. yet danny is a fave and won’t get voted off. though kris has shown by making the songs his own that he deserves to be in the finale. plujay: actually this was one of Kris’s performances I enjoyed the least. But it was good, and the guy deserves credit for not turning every.single.note into acrobatics.

Yes, he is cute, but it is more than that, Kris is an artist. He plays instruments he sings really good.

He is daring, makes great arrangements, and the fact that he is cute is just a bonus. And he has not got enough credit in this competition.

Last week’s performance was just too good for Idol.

ahhhhhhhh! the falsetto note glue in the middle was a disaster.

other than that, perfect! i was afraid at the beginning. i thought, “this is too slow.” kris knows better! loved the second half, and loved the first half after hearing the second half. that falsetto note in the middle though, ack!

My 2 cents again: Kris can sing well. But Kris is not the best by any means. He can sing ballads and change the arrangement to make it sound less-ballady, BUT ultimately every song fits in his voice the same way.

Even Jamie Foxx mentioned it when he said that his voice fits in a certain small box, BUT IT’s a good one nonetheless.

I’m just saying, Kris is not the most creative of the competitors & not the best singer.

In order for Kris to be phenomenal he needs to ADD a phenomenal element. Otherwise his performances will just be run-in-the-mill.

I don’t hate the boy, but I think the SAME PEOPLE who hate Danny for being a douche (just because the EDITORS chose to pimp his wife), should realize Kris is very much trying to capitalize on sex appeal and driving girls crazy. Danny is just a contender who doesn’t take himself as seriously as the others. Danny is self-deprecating (bad breath comment) and playful…he’s enjoying his time. Stop hating on him just because he isn’t acting the way you think he should.

All the unnecessary hate is driving me to actually like Danny (and he is NOT my favorite).

@ANON … errr … if the fans are going gaga over their idol … it’s understandable coz that’s what fans do … it’s not crazy pimping …

@plujay07 … if Kris adjusts all songs to suit his vocal range and his style as you suggested then good for him, meaning he knows exactly who he is as an artist and he’s humble enough to not trying to sing some songs that are off limit to him. Therefore in Grammy there are many categories: Pop, Rock, R&B, Country, Rap/Hip-Hop, etc.
AI is ultimately a singing competition, but it doesn’t mean the winner have to sing his/her head off every time. Rather than being blown up by ‘phenomenal’ performances (vocal acrobatic etc) as you stated … I personally prefer to listen to a singer who sings genuinely and sincerely. If you listen to all Kris’ performances (live versions, not the studio recordings) then you can see there is a KRIS ALLEN trademarks in all the songs, thus it will make a very good INDIVIDUAL album, it won’t sound weird or out of place. Kudos to him to be able to pull this off (it’s what Kara commented to him last week after his rendition from disco week).

And I don’t think Kris throw himself at girls or capitalize on his sexually as you suggested. HE just can’t help himself being so gorgeous as he is or as Danny being clumsy on stage or as Adam being gay. He told the world he’s married at the very first given chance and even Simon said to him he should’ve hid his wife for few weeks. You said it’s not Danny’s fault that he’s being pimped for a deceased wife … so it’s not Kris’ fault if all his fans (girls and guys) go gaga after him. So if you try to be reasonable to one contestant, you should be reasonable to all contestants. Actually, take a lesson from Kris’ first performance on stage : Man In The Mirror.

I would currently rank the idols as follows (this is overall):

1. Adam L. (of course – he might as well be on a sold-out tour)
2. Allison I. (consistently great and challenging vocal shows, artistic, and knows emotive).
3/4. Kris A. (Artistic, Good singer, and knows himself – what he can/cannot do)
3/4. Danny G. (Really Good singer, charismatic, entertaining, not very artistic BUT emotive)
5. Matt G. (Talented musician, decent singer, nervous, very unsure of himself/what works best for his voice. *This guy COULD be great, but he is totally overwhelmed by the “competition aspect.” Instead of letting the music and his heart guide him, he’s strategizing with his mind and is disconnected).

Tonight’s rankings (positions 2-4 are separated by very thin margins):

1. Allison I.
2. Adam L.
3. Danny G.
4. Kris A.
5. Matt G.

I think Kris is the most contemporary artist out of the 5, and I would buy his CD. At least that’s how I see it.

I don’t like Danny because he seems cocky and he is not original. I do think he has a lovely voice and he was his best tonight all season (which is not saying much because the guy has not given a great performance in the whole season). I think that to win American Idol (or for the judges and producers pimp you so hard) you have to at least make an effort: be original, dare, arrange your songs.

Last year I did not like Archuleta, but I understood the appeal and why the judges and producers liked him so much (he had had given by this stage in the competition last year great performances: Imagine, Angels, the Dolly Parton week) and we all knew who deserved to be in the top 3: Castro, Archuleta, and Cook (even if Castro did not make it) because these 3 guys were consistent and each gave at least 2 GREAT performances. –Castro: Hallelujah, Somewhere Over The Rainbow; Archie the 2 mentioned above; and Cook Billie Jean, Always Be My Baby.

Kris, Allison, and Adam are the ones that have been consistently great this season and tehy deserve to be the top 3. I mean, even Matt has given great performances (but at the beginning this season). Danny does not seem to be original and daring (not that he needs it anyway, he’s doing good so far).

I do not hate Kris. I just rate him in the middle of the pack on most fronts. I mentioned Danny because I’ve noticed a lot of comments on this page bashing Danny in order to bolster Kris – as I said, “unnecessary.”

*For the record, vocal acrobatics don’t sell me. Sincerity, tone, emotion, vocal versatility (stylistically), and performance sell me.

Like you said, “so it’s not Kris’ fault if all his fans (girls and guys) go gaga after him. ” My issue is that a lot of his fans BECAME fans BECAUSE of his looks.

My reasoning: Go back to the round of 36 audition where Kris got voted into 1 of the 3 spots for his group. His performance that week was FAR from Great/Good. Bloggers all over the internet were wondering what America was doing in choosing Kris over some of the others.

The fact of the matter is, when you’re good looking, you can be mediocre or “good” and be perceived as “wonderful.” I don’t fault his fans AT ALL. I just want people to realize the role Kris’ looks play. If you love his voice too, or rather FIRST, then you are a real fan, and I completely respect your opinion.

Back to this particular performance. I stand by my assessment that it was not one of the best. It wasn’t bad by any means, and that’s what I appreciate with Kris. Nevertheless, it didn’t wow me or show me anything new.

good points, and as you can see with my rankings. My top 3/4 includes Kris, and I completely acknowledge Danny’s need for artistry.

While Danny may not have had a GREAT NIGHT, he’s had a lot of really good and good nights. In my mind, that trumps Matt’s few “Great” nights (open to interpretation, haha) and several “BAD” nights. This is why Danny earns my 3/4 spot.

@plujay07 … for you “Man In The Mirror” was far from good, but for me the performance sold me … it’s now no.1 most played track in my iTunes beating “Think of Me” (Archie’s studio recording) … so it’s back to taste.

Besides, your problem being that fans vote for Kris because of his good look … how about Danny for his sympathy vote and legions of gays vote for Adam or (I’m not being racist) African-Americans voted for Lil or Indian-Americans voted for Anoop or Hispanic-Americans voted for Allison.

Again … if you try to justify one thing … look at the bigger picture. It’s all down to personal taste.

we kris fan know that kris has limited range.but he really sang good on his songs.this week i see flaws in this song.even though i not sure making every song sound the same is call original or stay true to yourself.i dislike it to make it the same because it is a singing competition but after so many season i believe it is useless to concern about it anymore.i hope kris have success regardless he wins or not.adam may have huge range but he annoys me with his screaming.it is unnecessary.he also never sings the emotion out of it.but i will see adam become successful.

Okay honestly, when i first heard Kris & saw him…I did fall for his looks but after hearing him sing week after week, he’s very genuine and his looks don’t matter as much to me NOW.
but of course he’s gorgeous, but he’s not like the hottest person in the whole world, there’s just something about him, either his swagger or his charm (aren’t they the same thing) that makes him so likable.
I really want him to go to the top 2, or at least to the top 3. he works his ass off EVERY week (everyone else does but you can tell when he tries to) and he’s an underdog ! VOTE FOR KRIS TO STAY ! PLEASE !
His singing is very original and contemporary, and even if he doesn’t win, his career after Idol will be successful i hope (:

… You like Kris for his voice, so more power to you. I agreed with Kara on his Man in the Mirror performance (1st time), but that doesn’t matter.

And Yes, maybe all the other names you mentioned have Core support groups, but if they didn’t have the talent to warrant the support, I’d be the first to complain about it. For the one’s who couldn’t cut it, Lil & Anoop, they got their due (and they had talent. It was just less than most of those left). Allison and Adam needed and have more than just the gay or latino vote to get this far, ESPECIALLY considering the viewership & voter demographic for American Idol – predominantly Female. So…

In my opinion, Kris should max at top 3 (which is great, mind you), because I FEEL Allison and Adam are better. Furthermore, Allison is fighting an uphill battle trying to convert the legions of Kris/Danny/Matt fans who aren’t bothering to “look at” her, no matter how great she is.

As far as you go, keep supporting Kris.

@plujay…. trust me… despite what producers or fans chose to “pimp” about a person, I can assure you, KRIS wouldn’t “pimp” his looks, bc kris doens’t see himself as attractive. He’s truly just this very nice, very humble guy.. always a little shocked when he is complimented on ANYTHING, talent, looks, etc. All of us who know him are SO PROUD to see him in the top 5!!!

As for Gokey.. i’ve got a personal dislike for him. He seems (to me at least) to always look a little..fake. Like he’s ALWAYS performing. It was just nice. Not Kris’s best by far, not in terms of vocal but in terms of passion. I voted for him tonight but, yeah, that wasn’t stunning.

I would’ve preferred an up tempo song like “Come Fly With Me” which would’ve fit wonderfully with his style whereas this could’ve been anyone singing.

I’m crossing my fingers that he’s safe this week.

I don’t know why Simon’s critique is so important, given that three out of four judges gave Kris’ performance the thumbs up. I say never mind Simon. He’s lost a lot of credibility. He wants Kris out because that would derail his prediction of Gokey going into the final. So the only way to prove him wrong is to vote like never before for Kris.

I remember this is what he did to David Cook last year during the final, and boy was he ever wrong. Why doesn’t he learn his lesson?

Maybe he wants to leave Idol with a bang. I say let him leave with his head in the sand.

Like you said, “so it’s not Kris’ fault if all his fans (girls and guys) go gaga after him. ” My issue is that a lot of his fans BECAME fans BECAUSE of his looks.

My reasoning: Go back to the round of 36 audition where Kris got voted into 1 of the 3 spots for his group. His performance that week was FAR from Great/Good. Bloggers all over the internet were wondering what America was doing in choosing Kris over some of the others.

The fact of the matter is, when you’re good looking, you can be mediocre or “good” and be perceived as “wonderful.” I don’t fault his fans AT ALL. I just want people to realize the role Kris’ looks play. If you love his voice too, or rather FIRST, then you are a real fan, and I completely respect your opinion.

If we like someone because of his/her looks,there’s better show to watch than in American Idol.

O.K. Couldn’t read ALL the debating going back and forth, but one thing to point out:

AI is a popularity contest, not a who’s the best singer contest. The most popular artists are not necessarily the best singers (Britney Spears?). I would buy Kris and Allison’s CDs. that’s it. I think Danny’s music would bore me to tears based on the songs he has chosen thus far and I think Adam gets a lot of mileage out of his music theater background which wouldn’t translate to a CD I would enjoy. Am I saying Kris and Allison have had the best vocals every week? Nope. Adam has definitely been most consistent (although I think we saw chinks in his armor tonight).

Ha, ha… and to comment that Kris’ fans are the ones swayed by looks? For real? Adam is very attractive… and he was able to build a fan-base weeks before Kris because we actually saw his first audition, and him in Hollywood (over and over). I also read a lot of women commenting on how cute Danny is (don’t see it at all, but whatever). Allison and Matt are the only ones who aren’t gaining much from their appearance.

Adam is good, but we already know that (everybody believes he is, just because he can scream his way out)…and we already know what to expect week after week…Adam doesn’t thrill me at all! Again, he’s gonna create all this theatrical shit week after week and scream with all his might..and not to mention he’s getting CREEPY…he’s not a feel good singer he’s definitely a CREEPY singer…and I guess creepy people get him…weird…eccentric…i don’t get it at all! And yet, they still think he is great…but as for me, I don’t think he is a well-rounded artist…can he do guitars while singing (or screaming)? can he do piano? can he doukelele? etc…I don’t think so…guess not! All he can do is trick us with his theatrical performance and his screaming shit! CREEPY, same ol’ same ‘ol, for sure he’s gonna scream his way out again til the finals…and for sure CREEPY people will love it again! No wonder, COOK, Jordin, Daughtry and not to mention Jaime Fox prefer someone else…(that guy is the true artist in every sense of the word – you know who I’m talking about – KRIS ALLEN!)

Way to go Kris! That was a stellar performance…you thrill me every week with your unpredictability! That’s a TRUE ARTIST IN EVERY SENSE OF THE WORD! I hope Adam Lambert’s fans will realize what a real artist means!

I did not like that Kris, while he may have deserved it (MAY), was declared in the Bottom 3. Since when is it a crime to be in the middle of the pack? AI made it seem much worse than he actually was, I would have preferred just a Bottom 2. I think this is just more subtle pimping, as Gokey is now the only one not Bottom 3.

They didn’t even have a Bottom 3 last season for Top 5!

i agree he may not even the best singer in the show.people need to remember,singing competition is not just about the range but the emotion and skills.just go watch america next top model where the models need to show different facial expression and movement.dancing show where they out of their genre and dance different genre.model may not have 100percent beautiful look.dancer may not have 100 percent body.it is about post learn skill that matters.idol is like having people singing the same type of song.adam may be great but sing the same.they have no variety,who cares artistry,after idol,their challenges is different any way.look at the past alumni.even i dare say leona lewis is not the best performer.she may have huge range but not the best.
