From USA Today:
Adam Lambert is the only Season 8 finalist to make the Idol airplay chart this week, as his version of Steppenwolf’s Born to Be Wild picks up a half-dozen plays.
=====
Anoop Desai’s “Everything I Do” got less than 6 plays, and did not make the Top 100 “Idol” chart.

15 Comments for Adam Lambert — “Born to be Wild” makes this week’s radio airplay chart
According to MJ’s blog, Anoop’s song picked up 2 spins. Kris’s and Danny’s got 1. The rest 0.
i know. where is this info coming from rickey cause different sites say different things.
I linked to USA Today… hmmm…
Adam is the only one to make the air chart. the others didn’t have enough spins to make the chart, but they did get their songs played a couple of times on the radio.
OH YEAH BABY!!!! GOOOOOOOOOO ADAM!!! HEY SURE DOES ROCKS!!!!
So how do you find out? Can you tell me so I can tell others and he’s the only one REALLY getting the air play AND most of the spins!!! this is cool!
How do I make it to the radio or help make it on air play?
I’m hard of hearing but I hear really really well and I’m thankful and blessed with the hearing that I have. I love love my MP3 player but I listen to it differently! I really would love to hear on my radio stations here!
thanks for everything Ricky!!!
I’m not surprised about Adam, but I am shocked that Kris’ didn’t chart. His was by far the best this week and I thought i would do very well! That’s wack. People don’t like good music these days
. Adam’s had a good arrangement that made it current, so I did expect him to chart, but I really thought Kris’ recording would do the best this week. I thought it was the best, if not the best out of all the studio recordings AI has had through all the seasons they’ve had studio recordings.
One way I know works is to call into their radio station and request the song. A lot of people are doing that since the stations normally talk about he show after the performances anyways. The only problem is if a particular DJ doesn’t like the contestant you request a song from. lol
Randy’s critique of Kris’ song (and the lack of Simon’s comments) probably hurt his chances as the divided decision did not have as high of an impact as it could have. Yet another failure of the 2 judge ripoff that favors the chosen ones at the expense of the underdogs. Kris’ was definitely the best of the night and deserved more appreciation.
Kris didn’t get much play because his version of ‘Falling Slowly’ was nothing new. It’s been done already. You can’t create “buzz” for a song when it comes off as an imitation.
Not only was Kris’ version apparently not a ‘fresh twist’on the original, so to speak, but it’s a song many of us (me!!) had never even heard before. It wasn’t a particularly interesting melody, imo, so I guess it didn’t make as much of an impression as fans of it may have hoped.
Teez Mama; exactly. I liked Kris singing Falling Slowly, but it was nothing new from the original. And if they were going to play the song, the original is much better (with better musicality and voices too).
Adam’s, however, is extremely current. I was very surprised when I heard the studio version; it’s SO different. I love it though; it’s a perfect driving down the highway or running song. The electronica he (and the band) added was a touch of genius. I love the original, but the arrangement is dated. Adam’s modifications were a touch of genius.
like Adam’s mad world right? Fresh and new … just ask Gary Jules.
gomer, Gary Jules liked Adam’s rendition. He said so in the press. And it was changed up.
I think Kris’ rendition of “Falling Slowly” was diff, if simply for the fact that it was a single voice.
Agreed with everyone who said Kris’s song is boring/unoriginal. That’s exactly how i felt. I was SO bored during performance night, i couldn’t remember what he sang at the end of the night. I bought the recording because of the hype and had to remove it from my iTunes after just 1 spin. The original is way better. Besides, i really couldn’t distinguish Kris’s voice from, say, a dozen of other artists on the market right now.
Adam’s recordings are always fresh and different. I love the creativity that he applies to his work.
Adam’s voice is enough to make every single song different, however, his singing technique also helps to make them unique. Ask Last.fm listeners, Adam’s already been played 171,834 times by 4,340 listeners there! http://www.last.fm/music/Adam+Lambert
Adam is taking over Last fm, the greatest online music community.
Kris is the second most played artist there, with 70,342 plays by 2,326 listeners http://www.last.fm/music/Kris+Allen
(huge gap)
The version of Falling Slowly that is included on The Frames’ album, The Cost, is also done in a single voice(Glen Hansard). My favorite version by far (I love The Frames). In fact, that one is the original version.
