The bridge was awful. Other than that, it wasn’t nearly as bad as they TWO judges said.

Love Matt, but this just didn’t cut it. He’s got to do more blusy songs. Not blues up a classic song like this.

It was ok. It was better than Danny’s awful boring song. This is by far one of the most disappointing weeks in general. None of them stand out. Adam was probably the one with the most energy and fun, but, even he was a tad off. Maybe they’re getting to that midway point where they’re plain run down and exhausted. It’s a grueling schedule and nerves…

HE shouldn’t have overdone with those stupid runs!! The first 3/4 of the song was just fine – it was actually better than Part-time Lover (which was atrociously bad for me) BUT, the last part was BAD BAD BAD!

Stop with overkilling it with runs Matt!

I think the bryan adams song that would have worked for matt is “When you love someone” from hope floats, or thius song could have worked for danny too

Aww, true, the bridge was all over the place, but this wasn’t as weak as the judges made it out to be. I still think he’s one of the more talented contestants this year.

All the first part was ok, just slight weird sounding runs.
But from 1:31, right after the falsetto… WTF happened?!?! The following seconds were just TERRIBLE.
I give Matt props for playing the piano well and sing at the same time. But in terms of vocal pitch, especially in the high notes, he needs lots of work still.

Matt’s always been my choice since auditions – and this performance does not change that one bit. I listened to it several times with my eyes closed, and I did not find it so off-key. If anything, his voice sounded a bit tired. I enjoyed his performance tonight and I think Bryan Adams’ songs can be a really great fit for Matt’s voice. If anything, because his voice is a bit worn-out, I would have quieted down the orchestra/piano/background singers, and just had him sing the song, quietly, with all the runs he did tonight. He has such an authentic, artistic sound and presence. I am voting as many times as I can for Matt. Good job, Matt!

By the way, I did not get to watch the show tonight – just these videos (thanks!) – but what purpose did Tarentino serve? I don’t care how brilliant he may be, he creeps me out.

Hmm, middle of show, right after Adam, and trying to do to much with a simple song. Add to that two thumbs down, the one from Kara hurt bad, and Matt is in trouble.

He should avoid that falsetto, he get in so much trouble with it. This was not his best by far. Still it was more exciting than about half the others tonight. I think he’s at risk though.

Matt started out and ended great. I agree the bridge was rough. But Please. Danny has has two songs where the whole song wasn’t together and tonight’s was one of them yet Simon still pimps him. uggh.

I would like to see Allison, Matt and Adam in the top three. I think Matt could be the dark horse although there is no comparing him to Adam. Adam’s in a league of his own.

Matt needs to listen to the judges and stick to what he came into the competition with. How many times does he need to be told.

He’s has tried to use AI as way to break into alternative rock which he has the potential for but now is not the time to experiment. If he wants to win.

Matt needs to relax, stick to what he knows and is comfortable with….he can branch into alternative rock….later.

I think he did an “average” job tonight. I didn’t care to watch it again. Adams performance is the only one desired to watch a second/third/fouth time.

Kris even sang one of my favorite songs and I didn’t even care to listen to him finish it.
He made it boring to listen to.

Matt’s a really good singer, but he’s boring. However, Carrie Underwood had horrible stage presence on Idol and she’s certainly come a long way. I think Matt could, too.

it was godawfully boring. i think matt’s the best pure singer in the competition. but that was even a bit pitchy in places. i think it was bad song choice too.
