I guess this is what makes the world go round. I’ve watch his performances. Listened to them again. And I simply don’t get why people think he is so good. Especially tonight.

Had anyone else done that song tonight exactly as he did it, the judges would have been screeching about how “pitchy” it was, how he couldn’t hit the notes, how he couldn’t find the range.

He was in the same class as Megan tonight in my book.

MEGAN and ADAM! lol. Even if (IF) Adam was as pitchy as Megan. IF!!! IF!!! IF!!! He had a million times more stage presence than Megan. Megan is just awful – all around. she can’t dance / can’t sing / just pretty much stands there turning side to side… She sings like someone in SPEECH class give a nervous speech – turning side to side to TRY and curve the nerves.

I think he has a good voice. My problem is that we still have’nt seen Adam Lambert! We have seen him IMITATE Mick Jagger, Michael Jackson and now Smokey Robinson. Who is Adam? I think that is why he has yet to make it in the music business. Hopefully, he will grow into his own as the season progresses.

THE performer I await each week!!

Wow! The face. The costume. The arrangement. The beautiful, subtlety in this performance. Adam Lambert certainly heeded the judges suggestions & just ensured his presence at or near the top of the heap.

Fabulous.

Making each song he performs his own is NOT a cliche with Adam. He tweaked the classic Smokey Robinson ‘Tears Of A Clown’ juuust enough so that the audience & the judges absorbed the reality of this phenomenally gifted, vocal talent performing the oft-sung ballad & not simply another cover singer.

Best performance of the evening, without question.

I’m a singer and can hear sharps (like Lil Round had on the first verse), and cringe when I listen to Megan singing. Adam didn’t have any pitch problems tonight – and the judges confirm this because they didn’t mention it at all and they would have no matter how much they liked him. So for those of you who “don’t get it”, you obviously have no conception of a really talented singer like Adam. Remember, we are looking for a dynamic performer in an American Idol. He is it.

A laid-back performance from Adam. WOW. I really like this. On a night of amateur (aren’t they always) karaoke, this is indeed a breath of fresh air. Sure it’s not an explosive colorful act — something you sort of expect from Adam — but the thing is, he does know how to mix it up.

Let me get this straight, pitchy? C’mon, the whole song is almost sung ENTIRELY in falsetto (or head tone, I need to see the vid to be 100% sure). It’s supposed to be in that register oft mistaken to be “pitchy”. If anything, this song sung in this way showed the immense control he has over his instrument. Voice-wise, there is no need to go through the next weeks; he takes that cake.

So who is “Adam Lambert”? I have a feeling we need to get to Broadway Week (if they are thinking about that) to find out.

I was a bit iffy about Adam until last week. Then his whole Ring of Fire weird bohemian thing threw me off. I thought he may be a little…out there lol.

But this performance was gorgeous! I absolutely loved it. It was a beautiful song, and I like seeing this side of him every now and then. It’s a nice break from all the belting out and screaming, too. lol

I just don’t get it at all…I’m a singer, and that was just pitchy all over the place…he’s just so theater, costume and all…it was like Link from Hairspray comes to AI…what kind of CD is he going to release? I think my problem with him is that it’s all surface and no depth…every time he sings, it’s more like wow he likes to show off his technical abilities, but I’m somehow missing a human connection with the songs…but clearly I’m in the minority

no no no…you can sing in falsetto and be on key…but there were flat notes and sharp notes where there shouldn’t have been…but yes, props for attempting to sing in falsetto, but there were definite pitch problems

YA SEE! This is what’s funny. I agree with one of the comments… RING OF FIRE was better than this. It was so unexpected and I LOVED it. That – and it was SUNG better. However, this performance was still amazing. Adam has something no one else has – ACTING ability. It might sound funny… but I think that is Adam’s strongest trait.

Brilliant. Superb. Spot on. Adam is playing this game like a contestant should, SMART. He showed what he can do as an artist three weeks in a row. Three different performances. He keeps people wanting more. He was over the top and electrifying last week and this week when everyone expected him to fail he came off with beautiful subtlety.

No matter what happens in the end, Adam is a born star.

Oh and he’s number 1 on dial idol right now. GO GLAMBERTS!

I watched the video and thought, great hes reading the blogs about how people think he looks like elvis. I think Adam is the type of person, that if everyone said he reminded them of jesus, he’d come out on a cross.

I have watched his youtube videos and I do think his broadway performances are worth the praise. Hes more than worth the praise in that genre.

nyc9758, I agree that Adam had some pitch issues. To me it seemed like Adam was trying to improvise on the fly, and wasn’t always sure where he was going with the melody, and it resulted in a few pitchy spots. But the performance as a whole was great because he has such a captivating presence.

Honestly, those who could not see the good (to say the very least) in this performance are truly just….ugh. This was by far the BEST performance of the night. Tender, great vocals, everything. To sing entirely in falsetto is challenging enough; to do it at such a tempo and it being such an intimate performance is just pure brilliance.

Loved it too! Just pre-ordered it! I don’t know if it was pitchy or not and I don’t care as I will take pitchy and great over perfect and dull anytime. (Even the most famous singers nowaday use an autotune mike as they cannot alway sing perfectly all the time). From his experience in theatre Adam has probably acquired how to get the right interpretation and mood require for a song. Just lovely and tender as the song called.

My husband was worried about me tonight. When they flashed Adam’s new look before the commercial, I was dying because I was laughing so hard. I LOVE Adam and just didn’t expect that look from him. It was more of a laugh from the shock.

The song was absolutely beautiful. He’s definitely going to win this thing because he’s so unique.

I have always said he looks like Elvis but surprisingly with his hair slicked back, I thought he looked even less like Elvis than his normal “do”.

I love the total IDIOTS who think Adam had “pitch” problems tonight.

I understand many people hated Adam’s performance of Ring Of Fire last week(and that is fine)

But even with Ring Of Fire Adam still had a flawless vocal just like this week.

Adam is the best SINGER this season by a mile and is also one of the best performers.

Even if Danny wins he isn’t as good and will not be as successful.

Many people just have a problem with Adam because he is gay which is totally lame.

Damn Adam for making me cry tonight!! Gawwd I love this boy. He’s already a mega star in my eyes…mad vocals, stage presence out the wazoo, and, good lord if he wasn’t gay…yumm!! I think I got close to 200 votes in for him tonight.

If you look at what he’s done first with ‘Black And White’,this week with ‘Tracks OF My Tears’ and last week with ‘Ring Of Fire’ – which I also loved, and it doesn’t even seem like it could be the same person but it is. MAN, I didn’t think Adam could make me love him more, but WOW. That was one heck of a performance tonight!!! Adam for the WIN!! (Of course, I called that before he even appeared on Idol, when I saw a vid of his from broadway. Yeah!) And he was so emotionally invested in it, too. It looked like he was close to tears at the end.

Loved the squeaky clean Elvis look! I love Adam’s normal hairdo, but it was really cool to see him fixed up differently. And we got to see all of his gorgeous face. Hehe! My mom and I agreed that he looks like Kurt Russell in that hairdo, which someone else mentioned here.

As fo the naysayers who say he was “pitchy”, no freaking way!! That was one of the best technically good performances on Idol, EV-AH. How come people love Matt’s falsetto, but put down Adam’s, which is 10 times better?

Can’t WAIT to hear this on one on iTunes. I’ve got mine pre-ordered already.

He’s not my favorite, but I love voices and I agree whole-heartedly that Adam is very talented. I actually loved his take on “Ring of Fire” last week (except that I had hoped he would reinterpret a country song, not distance himself from the genre.)

In any case, yes, tonight he was very good – who am I to argue with Smokey Robinson? Adam is definitely a smart performer and a showman. I enjoyed listening to him.

I don’t see the Elvis thing at all – yes, Kurt Russell as Elvis, but not Elvis himself. Elvis only appeared for me when I heard Matt Giraud’s audition – that is who has the early Elvis vibe, if only he knew how to be a showman like Adam. Matt would have done a wonderful job on “Tracks of My Tears” and his falsetto has more honey and more honest vulnerability and it would have made for an even more tender, emotional experience than what Adam was able to give tonight.

But, there is no denying that Adam is doing great so far. I really don’t understand who he is yet, but I have a lot of respect for his technical skills and really loved his hair tonight along with the polish-free fingers.

Matt, Adam, and Alison in the top three would be really exciting.

I find it interesting that so many people were blown away by Adam’s vocals. My take is that Adam loves to play, to act. He loves to put on a great show – with flair, surprises, dramatics. All that can make you believe that his voice is flawless, but IMO, it isn’t. And heck, I like Adam. But I also like to look behind the facade, and when I did on this performance, I thought his vocals were at times pitchy and lacking control. But the man knows drama, including convincing you that he was riding those tracks of his tears.

Okay, for country night he really should have sang some Roy Orbison. Now if only AI would do a “Memphis Soul” night so he could sing Al Green. But they won’t they somehow think Soul music is all about Motown, it isn’t every region had a different style.

Memphis was the starting point for Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding, and many other amazing vocalists not to mention Rockabilly types like Orbison, Elvis, and Johnny Cash who Adam staked a few weeks ago.

To those who claim to be a singer and can hear pitch problems in his performance, you obviously are tone deaf. Just because you sing doesn’t mean you are any more qualified to spot talent. Obviously true by the nature of the show.. Look at audition weeks where many tone deaf singers think they can sing. I’ve had this song on repeat for about an hour now and ‘to me’, it’s spot on. So maybe I’m tone deaf but since the majority and the judges seem to agree with me, maybe it’s you.

In my opinion, not one previous AI contestant has shown the complete package as Adam has. I adore Kelly, Ruben, and Fantasia (even Carrie has a warmed my heart some). But Adam sat up there with guitar legend in Paul Jackson Jr. it looked like they’ve been together for a long time. Adam SO comfortable as a musical artist. He knows what he has to do and does it. I’m comparing him to previous winners and the competition isn’t DONE YET! LOL!

A few weeks ago, I really disliked Adam. I felt similarly about David Cook last year. When season 7 started, I thought Cook looked like he had just rolled out of a box under a bridge someplace and come strait to the set. But, Cook won me over with his fantastic interpretations of the songs. I am starting to have deja vou with Adam. I find myself liking him because he actually interprets a song and makes it his own. That’s the difference between an artist and a singer. Archuletta and Gokey are singers. Cook and Lambert are artists.

He has just only begun.

wow. just listened to Adam’s studio recording…un-unplugged. lol. Meaning witht he original music arrangement. It’s interesting. Still love his unplugged version better. But I totally now get all the lip service Randy gives to Adam about being current. Adam has an amazing studio recording voice. Even with the original arrangment, the song doesn’t sound dated to me at all when Adam sings it. So great. His tone is beautiful as always. Another 99 cents wisely spent!

LoL…and I noticed the lyric change too! LOVE IT! Instead of Adam singing “Since you left me if you see me with another girl” he sings “Since you left me if you see me with somebody else”! My respect Adam just went up another 100% from where it already was. He’s staying true to himself. I have a sneaking feeling he totally had to fight for that lyric change. There was not a pitch issue during “Tracks of My Tears.” Adam connected with the audience with his sheer emotion and control of his vocals.
