It’s that time once again when I put my American Idol conspiracy theories to the test! My favorite as everyone knows is: THE RED LIGHTS. For me, anyone who gets massive amounts of red is LITERALLY in danger. Nothing like unflattering lighting to turn-off people from voting. It’s a subliminal message to the audience: Don’t vote. Red lights. Don’t vote. Red lights.

At any rate, who got the red light treatment last night? Jasmine Murray, Kris Allen, Allison Iraheta and Jorge Nunez. I think all 4 of them are in danger.

What about Anoop Desai? Well, he got bathed in a sea of Matrix green! Which translates to: He may suck at singing but he’s so cool like the Matrix! Green! He is life! Vote for him!

My other conspiracy theory is: singing position. Jasmine, Kris, Allison, Anoop and Jorge were all within my “danger zone” of singers #5 to #9. #1 and #2 are also not good, but Lil Rounds and Scott MacIntyre are not going anywhere.

Still another conspiracy: Simon Cowell’s comments. Forget what everybody else says. Simon is wisdom (as compared to Paula who is emotion). Anoop and Jorge were blasted by Simon. He was constructive with Jasmine, and a little kinder to Kris and Allison.

Finally of course is their performance — which in the land of Rickey.org conspiracy carries the least weight. LOL Anoop, Jasmine and Jorge arguably had the worst performances.

So, with the red lights, singing #9, Simon hatred and a so-so performance, Jorge Nunez is leaving us tonight.

But wait! It is a double-elimination! Who could be the other one? I think it is a toss-up between Jasmine Murray and Kris Allen. (Deep breath) I am picking Kris Allen to leave. Why??? Because there is another conspiracy theory: the Rickey curse! I’m not going to say anything anymore. Kris Allen is leaving.

Results show is at 9 PM Eastern tonight!

RICKEY!!! Kris needs to stay for the tour. He is the most current contestant on this show. If Idol loses him, there goes the $$.

but simon does need to apologise here , he & ryan were way out of line .building him up one day & destroying the very next. making it sound like they did him favour giving him 13th spot when it was planned all along. i can’t believe paula threw him under the bus like that & simon stabbed him then randy & ms cara twisted it one by one ,gosh i remember the crushed look on anoop’s face.just when he thought he gave a good perfomance.as far as i am concerened anoop should give all five of them the finger & say “beat it” and walk out of this mess.

he is the cutest contestant and very marketable to youngsters… though vocally wise not that superb but still he needs to go further in this competition..

I’m pretty sure that Jorge will be one of the elims tonight. Other than that…the people who I thought would be going home this week (Jasmine, Michael Sarver) actually probably won’t be. How that happened, I don’t know.

to be honest with you rickey, I think you forgot something. the end of the program, simon and ryan announced that tonight, there would be a major change that involves the judges, and simon gave a hint, that this change will influence the competition in a big way. Yeah I am kind of sick with a lot of surprises this season, but the kind of twist here is, that I think, in some weird way, I get the sense that the judges have some kind of power to save somebody, who they thought was great, from being in danger of voted out when they are landed in the bottom three. if that really happened, I really hope the judges stick to their critiques, and that means, saving Kris Allen if he lands in the danger position, because the bottom line, he was great last night..

One thing is clear. JASMINE MURRAY should leave the show.

I’m worried about Anoop and Jorge.

Allison and Kris will surely be staying (hopefully).

Scott, compared to the other 11 (excluding Jasmine) is not as great as the others. he should also leave the competition if we are talking about good vocals. But I’m sure he will not be eliminated this week due to the obvious reason that people will sympathize.

I think that Jasmine and Jorge will go tonight. The judges are way too biased. What’s up with that? Why don’t they remain semi-neutral and see to it that their “favorites” are picked up for recording contracts after the show? This is after all a television show which is supposed to be controlled by audience participation. If they don’t want it to be that way, then change the format and let the “experts” decide.

I’m very concerned about the “twist” as well. Ryan said that it “goes against the spirit of the show.” The essence of the show that differentiates it from so many other ones is that the judges just offer their critique, but it is the voters that have the ultimate say (allegedly). After 7 seasons, the judges probably got antsy about seeing their favorites get voted off in a “popularity contest,” and are rankled that America doesn’t seem to be paying attention to their expertise. Which is completely self-indulgent and inappropriate for this show.

Rickey, I told you in the chatroom when you were making the order the top 12 would be elimination, and I’m telling you now, Kris will go far, trust me . I have a feeeling. You will see. Though if the twist is what we think it is he probably won’t make it that far. andddd i will stop watching cuz the show will be fail and deserve to lose rating.

I hope the change isn’t to give the judges even more power. I have hated the return to the wildcard format from the get-go, then especially disliked it when the judges chose the wildcards. They have enough power picking the top 36/32/24/whatever and giving their (often biased) critiques every week. Beyond that, let America vote who stays and who goes.

I really think if this is the rule twist. That it gets rid of the shock elimination staple of the show. Meaning either Danny or Adam are saved or both! Since Rickey predicted one of them will be a shock elimination.

This means the judges REALLY want an Adam vs. Danny finale.

why would they want it to be like X-Factor? Did they notice that AI has much better ratings…. Fail…
Simon even said we wouldn’t like it, SO WHY DO IT!? Arghh.
We can still hope that it’s all a big april fools joke or something or that it will actually turn out to be some other twist that will not destroy the show.

If it were up to me, Scott would be going home. I know that it won’t happen, but that would be my choice. His song was pretty boring to me.

The other one that I could care less if she goes home is Meagan. Sure, she is cute and sings a cute song, but again, I found myself channel hopping during her song.

Rickey, i do hope that you are making the right prediction based on their performances rather than popularity.

I have been in agreement with you all seasons, well except for Sanjaya. I dont know Rickey but i am seeing a mirror image of Sanjaya based on his performance last night and the wild card night as well.

Allison was amazing last night, sick vocal and Kris was so original and up-to-date with his take on “Remember the time” even with a MEH vocal.

PS: I am going to see Archie in Pomona next week. Can’t wait.

I totally disagree with Kris’s departure.
He did good job, not fantastic though.

I think bottom 3 will be from those 5 contestants: Jasmine, Scott, Jorge, Anoop, Megan.

Jasmine and Anoop, those two performances was so disappointing…, It made me really pissed off that Jesse was kicked off last week. she was really my favorite.

Jorge picked completely wrong song…., I though totally same thing as Cara said, “she is out of my life” for Jorge.

Scott, and Megan were not that bad, but, in my opinion, quite forgettable.

Taking everything in account, I think two contestants leaving us tonight Jasmine and Jorge.

Jorge is going home. I think one of his family members shaking the P.R. flag (during his pre-performance montage) didn’t help. I don’t recall a family ever zealously shaking their state’s flag. GO NEBRASKA!! Hmmm, don’t think so!

My guess has been Jasmine and Jorge going home. Jasmine the more likely of the 2. Reading your poll results, though, maybe I have it backwards. Those 2 are both near the bottom of dialidol… in both raw data and score.

I “initially” thought the TWIST could be the judges pick the one going home – from the bottom 2 (not 3). They would still pull the bottom 3, though. I changed that feeling when I thought about the Chris Daughtry and Jennifer Hudson eliminations. I thought. Why not a VETO.

There are a lot of people who keep calling Scott’s performance boring. It’s true, it wasn’t the best Michael Jackson song, but he picked it for the message. It’s not like Scott would EVER CHOOSE to sing Michael Jackson, anyway. That being said (1) He MUST do better than that, BUT (2) he still out sang 3 or 4 other contestants, which I will NOT name names.

The worst part about week 1 is that the judges always say “don’t sing Michael…” and then they make week 1 – with THIRTEEN singers – Michael Jackson week! lol It was DOOMED to be awful and luckily it wasn’t as bad as it very well could’ve been. My summary of the night – short and sweet… “Thank god for Adam & Too bad we didn’t have another David Cook version.”

Don’t go by DialIdol. Fanbases using it as an autodialer while they concentrate on text voting have skewed the results. allison’s fanbase seems to be a big DialIdol user, her numbers for the second hour of voting are hugh, about as many as where recorded for Jorge, Jasmine, Alexis and Michael all night. Back in Season 6 Blake Lewis had some low DialIdol numbers that were due to his fanbase heavily using the system.
