The finalists of American Idol 8 were completed last night during the Wildcard show.

After announcing Matt Giraud as the 12th Finalist, Simon Cowell told Anoop Desai: “We decided recently, we’re going to make this a Top 13.”

Omigosh! I was shocked! I love this show! I just love the blatant emotional manipulation! Woohoo!

Rickey…thank you soooo much for posting this! I was just watching the end of the wildcard show on my dvr waiting for Anoop’s turn and then it stopped! I really wanted to see Anoop get voted in and the surprise was a great way to end the show!

oh yeahhh. the captions are great. I’m glad I’m not the only one who noticed Lil Rounds going crazy in the background and the 14th contestant. That was awkward. One of the contestants should have helped him down, but they all probably got caught in the moment and forgot about him…

I was watching this and was thinking to myself, “Why is that one contestant not celebrating with the others???” and then I laughed at myself as I realized that it was Scott. I saw how excited you were when they announced Top 13, Ricky. I was just as excited as you were since Anoop and Matt are my two favorite contestants and I hated that it was between the two of them.

Ummm, when it comes to Top 13, it was great decision.
However, the contestant made it through…., I am personally not satisfied with that.
Jasmin…, She can sing, but I don’t think she is as good as the judges say. I like a way better Jesse. I am quite sure, Simon said to Jesse “You nearly did.”, which means they are wondering to pick Jasmin either Jesse. I hoped Jesse made it through.

Then, who will be the first eliminated contestant…, tough line up. It will totally depend on song choice and how they perform,

Clearly TPTB recognized how popular Anoop has become and how outraged so many fans would have been if he had not made it. He totally deserves to be in – LOVE Anoop!

I’m not particularly a huge Anoop fan, or the whole surprise of a top 13, but I think it’s great how many of the contestants were overjoyed that he got in. It looked like they genuinely loved the guy, it was great, they just attacked him with hugs and laughter. Good for him

The funny part was at the end when Ryan had to prompt them to come down. You’d had thought after the hug Anoop just gave Matt, he’d had jumped right up to congratulate Anoop.

When Simon stopped Anoop from leaving the stage after Matt got in, I almost turned off my TV thinking that Simin was gonna say BS like “you are a good singer, you do not have to give up your dream, you almost made it, yadayadayada…” I’m glad I couldn’t find the remote right away.

That was so unpredictable and the best part is that I like almost all of the top 13 chosen, well except for Michael S. but the other 12 is great.

Can’t wait for next week, I’m sick and tired of them eliminating 9 contestants every week, such a waste of talent, thank God they’ll just eliminate a single person starting next week.

Thanks, rickey!! I am yet another one whose DVR got cut off. I was really ticked that I missed the best part of the show. I assumed that they would bring Matt and Anoop up together because I think all of us knew that it would come down to both for that third spot. I almost died when Jasmine got a spot. She is good. However, I wanted my boys to be picked. I knew Simon was going to pick Megan. I had hoped that they wouldn’t pick another girl; however, I figured that they might try to even it up some. Then, that left one spot. Geez…We really like Matt, but I am attached to Anoop Dog!!

I just wish that I would have seen it play out. I actually screamed in relief when he was the last one chosen for the eight who were going to complete. I would have screamed again if I had seen this ending! Way to punk us!

I hope that Anoop brings it. Did you guys know that Ellen showed a clip of Anoop on her show? She was mad that he wasn’t initially voted in. There is also a clip of him on TMZ.com with his Clef Hangers group. So, Anoop Dog is pretty popular!

Sadly this show is no longer about talent but rather its about popularity.

True Anoop is a sweet guy but this guy can’t even sing the whole song. I am seeing Sanjaya in the making.

I am rooting for people with talent like Archuleta and Cook. Therefore, this season my money is on Matt G, Allison and Adam. the rest are blahhh…

Anoop is ten times better than Sanjaya will ever be. You need to check out his work with the ClefHangers on YouTube. The boy has pipes. He just hasn’t had much of a chance to show them on this show. I can understand your confusion, or disinterest, I really didn’t like him doing My Prerogative. I wish he had done some Boys II Men or something that shows his voice off a little better, but whatever. I am a singer myself (not pop) and his vocals with the ClefHangers impressed the hell out of me. So, please, reserve your judgement on him until you’ve heard him a little more.

Oh gosh I just can’t wait for the top 13 to get in action this tuesday. I can really tell that there’d be some contestants who have been perceived as frontrunners, (I think there are at least three thus far)at the moment to be having tough times with the hard themes and all. when that happens, I am hoping so much for the underdogs to sneak in and make surprises.
