Noel, the rumors you have heard about having to “show things” in New Orleans for beads are not true at the regular Mardi Gras parades. Yes, you will see that type of behavior on Bourbon Street among tourists especially when alcohol is involved. However, the majority of Mardi Gras parades are a family event. They have families with children everywhere having good, clean, fun. New Orleans is a great place to visit with children. I just wanted to make sure everyone knew that because, unfortunately, we’ve been slammed with this “Show me your $&(*!” image for too long now.

#2 CAJUNROUX. Thank you for reminding me and everybody. I didn’t mean to slam New Orleans. I like New Orleans. It is a fun and progressive place. For non-natives, Bourbon Street is a big tourist attraction even without the parade. I’ve been in one of the other parades. Some ladies did lift their shirts. They were wearing t-shirts and bras underneath. All in good fun. Personally, I think the human body, male and female, should be admired and is nothing to be ashamed of. Nudity in Europe is no big deal. On the beaches in the French Riviera for example, many many ladies go topless.

cajunroux … thanks for the info … I was not aware of that and also was one of those under that impression … call it ignorance! even so, I wouldn’t slam New Orleans for that! … I visited there 10 years ago for a conference and had a grand time too!

Angels, I got my LTAL download yesterday and ordered one of the stuffed animals with a David tee on it. I’m going to download more and send them out to Angel friends!

Can someone please tell me why I am not hearing ALTNOY anywhere on the radio????

I live in NY…get all of the NY pop stations and I’m so close to Connecticut that I get most of their pop stations too….

I still hear CRUSH once in awhile.

I don’t know what markets and stations ALTNOY has been rolled out in. I would expect NY first, but that doesn’t mean all stations.

If you scroll down to the single stats here, you can see ALTNOY is barely on the radar. Songs start to get a lot more play when they make it into the Top 30 because then it gets on a lot of Clear Channel station playlists. Unfortunately many of the charts are part or all airplay so it’s a chicken and egg situation. People need to be diligent about voting on XM up to every 5 minutes and Disney several times per day, requesting at local stations that are playing the song, and also voting at VH1 and MiTRL so more will see the video and hopefully buy the song and request it on their stations.

rated_ar_chie – I would have to look it up. Rio DiJaneiro Brazil, New Orleans in Lousiana US, and some other southern US cities have a big carnival holiday called Mardi Gras aka Fat Tuesday. Many places in SOuth America and the Caribbean have similar carnivals and Europe has some similar holidays (Carnival in many, Shrovetide in the UK).

It is generally a Carnival period between Epiphany or Twelfth Night and Ash Wednesday.

New Orleans Mardi Gras is a big deal, or at least it was before New Orleans got trashed by Hurricane Katrina. It features floats, music, wild costumes, and throwing strings of plastic beads into the crowds. Unfortunately it also often includes lots of drunkenness and lewd behavior along the streets, but David was in a parade in a suburb of New Orleans.

#10 RATED_AR_CHIE. Further to what VIOLET4EVER said, drinking and some women baring their beast in exchange for beads occur in the French Quarter at the Bourbon Street area. These kinds of behavior are tolerated by the police as long as there are no fights and no nudity below the waist. The other parades held in different locations in the City of New Orleans during MARDI GRAS are family affairs involving children.

#17 and #19 CAJUNROUX. I thank you and VIOLET4EVER for the clearer information you gave us about the Mardi Gras in New Orleans. It will dispel the idea that all the Mardi Gras parades there involved drinking and nudity. I should have made it clear from the very beginning that it only happens on Bourbon Street in the French Quarter and that the other parades are family oriented. I can truly say that New Orleans, during and after Mardi Gras, is a fun place to visit.

Re ALTNOY – I think in the beginning someone said second singles move slower (for one thing, the singer’s strong fans have already bought the album). And in David’s case, with Crush’s long popularity, many stations are still playing Crush. Add to that all of the mixups at stations of which song was the single and it was a bumpy start. But it seems to be starting to move so we need to keep requesting especially at places that are sure-plays like placing in the XM 20 on 20 and Radio Disney countdowns, voting at MITRL and getting it on VH1.

On another topic – has everyone gotten their BuildABear song? I bought one a few for gifts too. And a tee. I resisted buying an animal because I am broke but I snapped when I started seeing pictures of peoples’ cute new David-dressed and David-tee animals. So I put together discount Snazzy Cat at BuildABear – just the cat, the David tee, and a skirt for now.

I would also love that hooded zipped sweatshirt at David’s website’s merchandise store, and their poster, but can’t afford it right now.

I’ll try to get on there more regularly…but I can’t bring myself to leave rickey’s. thanks for the great links! that altnoy vid and remix is waaaaayyy cool … really awesome, I loved that! … I would love to get the mp3 download but I didn’t see it on that site… David singing Angels acapella was just pure perfection!!
