Katrina Darrell

Katrina Darrell — the “Bikini Girl” — auditions in Phoenix for American Idol 8. She got into a “singing match” with Kara DioGuardi — which made me just love Kara a lot. Kara hated the “Bikini Girl” and Katrina hated her back. In the end, the legs prevailed and Katrina got a yellow ticket.

She sang “Vision of Love”

Ugh this was ridiculous. This girl got to hollywood just because Simon wanted to do her. Her voice was okay, but her attitude was so inappropriate. How dare she snap at Kara like that? Grr. Also, the fact that Ryan Seacrest wanted to make out with her was icky.

Ugh, what a skank. To EMBARASS yourself like that on tv like that. I was embarassed for her.
Her singing was ok, but totally understood where Kara was coming from (and damn can she sing! Wow).
I doubt she’ll make it past Hollywood.

I’d be scared if I were Ryan… make to wash anywhere she touched w/ skalding hot water.

indeed she’s a skank. i did find her ridonculously hot but her attitude was such a turn-off. cut after the first hollywood round.

i have to say that i LOVE kara dioguardi! the fact she can write and sing just makes her WIN.

After thinking about it… I think people only hated her because she auditioned in a bikini… Although it may not be appropriate, what would be the difference if she wore jeans & a good T-shirt? To be honest though I have a feeling that she might not make it past Hollywood week.

Wow, after looking at my post….. I really need to proof read what I type b/c half of it made no sense! rofl…

Anyway… just the fact that she put herself out there like that and used her body to get her that far in to the audition made me dislike her. Just like I dislike any idiot who goes and auditions and thinks they need to have some gimmick to get on… like dressing up in a costume or something.
And then her attitude was just awful, w/ the whole skankiness and rolling of the eyes, etc etc… BLEH.

i don’t get it they bleeped it out when she swore in the preview maybe it was too jumbled in there and hey hopped no one would notice her swearing towards the girl.

Wow. That was… interseting. I mean- she shouldn’t have picked that song. It was too big for her.

I think I like Kara. And why is Paula acting so sane? Is she’s almost normal! Hope she keeps it up!

She was disrespectful, condescending, self centered and she won’t make it past Hollywood. She could carry a tune but the reason she made it to hollywood was because of that bikini.

I can TOTALLY see the casting from Big Brother giving her a call. She’d be famous on there!

I didn’t hate her because she wore a bikini – what I hated was the fact that she would NEVER have made it to Hollywood if she hadn’t worn that bikini. Her singing was unremarkable. When she shows up on stage in Hollywood dressed like everyone else she will quickly be back on the beach…and out of the competition.

For whatever it’s worth, even though she wasn’t amazing, Liana was SO much better and at least had something to offer other than “A” (not much “T” that I could see). If she didn’t go through and this imbecile did, I wouldn’ve been sorely disappointed.

Kara got it exactly right! Beautiful girl..average voice. Simon is a pig. If she would have come in with more clothes on she would not have even got a second take. She won’t make it any farther nor does she deserve to.

Trashy. It sucks that she has a decent voice. All this audition did for me was cement the fact that I LOVE Kara! I didn’t expect her and Paula to be chummy-chummy though. Dang it! At least Paula stepped up her game a bit and was coherent.

I think all this did was solidify that Kara is awesome. I’m glad to have somebody on the panel that can really speak her mind. I thought her snarkiness was fantastic. “All we know right now is Top and Bottom.” Priceless!

And she was right on. The chick had a decent behind and that was about it. Everything else (including her face) was unremarkable.

I hated her. She did not deserve to go to Hollywood, her attitued was terrible. I have a feeling that IF she even makes it past Hollywood week, she will be making everyone’s lives miserable. She does not seem like a good person at all…

You know, I’m pretty sure the guys were acting that way just as a joke. For Ryan, I think he just played along with it all. As for the judges, I know from previous seasons that Randy and Simon do that (pass pretty girls) just to annoy the Paula (and this time Kara as well). Paula brought it up I think in season 3 or 4 when it was talking about the really pretty twins (though only one of them auditioned while the other stood nearby as support).

I’m pretty sure guys know what is “hot” and what is “skank” as well. They have no intentions of really taking her seriously.

They are always slamming people who do anything to make to on tv and go to Hollywood and yet she shows up in her bikini and the producers are drooling at the mouth and they along with Simon send her on. This is so ridiculous. She can’t sing. I was sick of the way the tv was always showing her behind. The producers are obvious perverts.

By passing her on, all the show is telling the whole world is if you come in your bathing suit next year to sing, you get a free ticket to Hollywood. Utterly ridiculous!

Actually, I am looking forward to simon trashing her in Hollywood week. They let her in for the drama and the good story line that they can make fun of her with. But when Kara sang, this chick looked really weak in comparison.
