Some notables:

Michael Castro — Michael Castro is Jason Castro’s younger brother!
Anna Kaelin — Anna Kaelin is the daughter of Dean Kaelin — David Archuleta’s voice coach!
Joanna Pacitti — Joanna Pacitti could be this year’s Carly Smithson “plant”. Previously signed with A&M and Geffen Records, her song “Out from Under” has been covered by Britney Spears for her 2008 album Circus.
Von Lee Smith — Von Lee Smith sang “And I Am Telling You” on You Tube

I’m not sure that I like the whole Castro/Kaelin copy cats? Haha. But you know, if they can sing, they can sing. I’m excited.

Oh, and that video by Von Smith made me highly nauseated. =/

Wow! I just watched Von’s videos on youtube
and I have so many mixed emotions about him.
He obviously has an amazing amount of talent
BUT…IMO there’s somethings about him that
are just so wrong. Here’s a few ideas: Jessica
Simpson singing “faces”, Broadwayish, David
Hernandez-Season 7, brown-patch pants!,
amateur music video, I’ll stop there. If he
can tone it down for AI he might do ok for
awhile. But that awesome slide into falsetto
looks like it’ll be his signature.

I’m bummed that I won’t be watching because
I’d really like to see Michael Castro and
SURPRISE, Dean Kaelin’s daughter. I hope they
both do well!

Wow, Michael Castro couldn’t be any more different than Jason, could he? And yet he’s also very appealing, with the same beautiful skin and full lips as Jason, but with more of a sexy Latino look. If he has 1/10 of Jason’s charisma and a stronger voice he’ll do very well. Looking forward to Idol season 8!

I love American Idol and have been a huge fan since the beginning, but after season 7 I am just not looking forward to watching anymore. I just feel like it won’t be the same. I became so attached to all the idols from last season-following them on tour. I really think of last season’s contestants as being THE American Idols. I also has the weird feeling as if the Davids are being replaced. I am note sure if I want to watch season 8. Who am I kidding, I am probably going to watch, but no one can replace the Davids. They are each one of a kind.
