Dear Friends:
We now have officially lost the battle with the comment spammers (from Korea, Malaysia, Canada, Sweden, Florida, wherever they may be). For the past two days, it’s just been unbearable on the backend — 800 spam comments in 24 hours — I was already thinking of turning everything off. However, after rickey.org was responsible for shutting down the server it is on (shared by hundreds of other sites) just a couple of hours ago, Dreamhost has shut off the comment system themselves. They’ve even threatened to disable my account. Waaaa. So no more comments.
I will try to figure all this out for the rest of the week with my limited technical skill. Please bear with me. E-mail me if you really need to tell me something. rickey {AT} excite [DOT] com.

Heroes – Chapter 6 – Better Halves 14
Save the cheerleader. Save the world.
Well nothing beats a flying Nathan from last week, so this episode was very plotty. It’s just unfortunate that the best parts of this episode occurred in the final few minutes.
We finally learn about Nikki’s dual self, who’s an assassin with super-strength. And her husband D.L. who can phase like Kitty Pryde! OMG. Does this mean their son Micah is a Franklin Richards-type savant?
As for other details, we get teased again with Claire (the cheerleader) ever so slowly piecing together that her adoptive father is evil. But the bombshell of the night was discovering that Eden, Mohinder’s girl companion is a mole! Dammit. Well, that’s what makes things interesting. So now Horn-Rimmed Glasses Mr. Bennet knows that “someone from the future talked to Peter — who may or may not fly — that they need to save the cheerleader”. Things just got complicated (as if it wasn’t already, but in a good way, unlike Lost). So next week, some confrontation in the desert with more Nathan flying.
I love Heroes.

Elliott Helps Fans Raise Funds for Diabetes Research
This past Sunday, October 22, at Dodger Stadium, the soaring, soothing voice of Elliott Yamin was heard crooning the familiar notes of the Star Spangled Banner as he delighted supporters, eager to help raise dollars for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s Walk for the Cure. This performance followed on the heels of Yamin’s first solo concert on October 8th in Richmond, Virginia, also a fundraiser for juvenile diabetes research, a cause close to Elliott’s heart.
You know, stem cell research (my pet advocacy) can also help in diabetes research. Make research, not war!
Lost — Season 3 — Every Man for Himself 10
OMG – the Others are so evil I can’t stand it anymore. What are they doing to Sawyer?!
I hope the next two episodes, according to the preview, really are kick-ass, because I’m getting restless. Hopefully J.J. Abrams and Co. are sensing this. Little big revelations, like a second island, just doesn’t cut it anymore. And seeing Jack, Kate and Sawyer tortured for 3 episodes now really needs some sort of closure.
The scenes from tonight’s episode were very intense, and Sawyer-centric episodes are always great in my book — he has a child! He’s really a good person! But the overall storyarc is just dying I think. I’m getting viewer fatigue and it sucks because I like this show. The events occurring at camp with Desmond, Hugo, Charlie, etc. are very problematic. This is probably why the Nikki and Paolo scenes were cut during last episode. Although I do like the fact that Desmond is active in camp, it feel so incoherent, since this is not the camp we knew from last season, specially with the introduction of new characters. It feels like we don’t know them, and yet we’ve already invested two seasons on this thing.
C’mon ABC, you can’t drop the ball now. And you know what’s worse? After the next two episodes, the next brand new episode will air on February 7, 2007! That’s 3 months of hopefully fixing Season 3. Thank god there’s still Heroes to thrill us.

Five Million – Thanks 14
Sometime on Tuesday, rickey.org registered its 5 millionth unique visitor (and I only noticed now — oops). Less than 5 million people have probably visited the blog since there are many repeat visitors, not to mention the armies of spambots and googlebots that bombard the server every day, but it’s nice to say that you’ve had 5 million unique visitors in 2 1/2 years — it could be my crowning achievement for the high school reunion — how sad. Hahaha.
Stats are just numbers which are meaningful only to the advertisers and the bandwidth meter on my server. I have found that what really matters are all the nice people who’ve participated in this little blog, who make me feel that what I’m doing is worthwhile — even as the copyright police come breathing down my neck every once in a while — it was just a 100×100 jpeg of Shiloh darnit! I’m just a lowly blogger! LOL
So again, thank you for padding my stats and stroking the ego. As I’ve said before, this has been one of the most amazing things I’ve done in my life and I’m glad you could be here. Mwah!

Yes, Emmitt Smith’s mambo was magic. Bruno was crazy not to give him a 10.
As much as I love Mario Lopez and Joey Lawrence, I now want Emmitt to win it all. Aside from Springer, who we all know will not win, Emmitt is not in showbiz like the rest. You can’t practice x-factor, and Emmitt is a natural. I felt really happy seeing him dance. I think a Mario, Joey and Emmitt final 3 would be perfect — but you’ll never know with these things. The Jerry Springer cabal could get it together for another two weeks. Or the powers that be might decide that they need a young female in the finale.
