Ms. DJ ~ I haven't had a complete listen to Blake's CD and let me preface by saying Blake and Jordin were my 2 faves this season. That said, I agree that at least with Break Anotha there aren't very many lyrics, in fact, the repetition is so gratingly annoying I have yet to listen to it all the way through although I have tried several times.

My vote went to Jordin - primarily because I like Tattoo and No Air (call me LCD, I don't care. :) )

well i voted for jordin too. at least i like one track on her album, that would be the nice chris brown duet 'no air',which i have on my playlist.its really good,to the contrary of the cheezy 1st single 'tattoo'.
ABOUT blake's album,i agree exactly with what most reviwes have said--
'on top of a half-dozen interludes of the 'boxing s-s-st-st-stuff — the remaining 90 percent of the CD finds him trying to do what he doesn't do best: sing.He certainly doesn't have the Maroon 5 frontman's chops, so a lot of Lewis' overproduced cuts keep him in a comfort zone where he can jump from midrange into a falsetto, bypassing too many pesky high notes. Emotion hardly factors in... He's aiming to be the hip-hop-slang-slinging sibling of his brother-in-beatboxing, Justin Timberlake'.

also, agree with DJ Ryce.

I'm not sure this is a fair question. It's not a matter of who's CD is technically "better" (but please see my review of Blake's album for details). It's more a matter of what type of musical listener are you.

I'm not criticizing her voice at all, but Jordin's music sort of appeals to the lowest common denominator of emotion. It's just very agreeable, palatable, non-offensive popular music. They'll play it repeatedly on Top 40 radio, girls will sing and dance to it at sleepovers, soccer moms will hum to it in their cars. She will probably be asked to sing for a Disney soundtrack in the next 5 years.

I would describe Blake's album as a very cerebral experience. It's artistic for sure, but some people aren't going to appreciate it.It's got layer upon layer of rhythms and instrumentation, and since there aren't that many lyrics, you really have to take time to listen to songs multiple times. Depending on what type of music listener you are, that can either be a fun challenge or a frustrating annoyance. A few of the songs are very danceable and club-friendly. On the whole though, this is the type of album I'd use as background music at a really low-key party or an alternative-yuppie coffee house.

If I had to vote though, I'd pick Blake, only because I go for all things countercultural and "outside the box."

He's not gonna come in far behind in sales..per HDD.. She got 119k - he's estimated at 90k.

From HDD:

20 SHOPPING DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS: And not a new release blockbuster in sight. Josh Groban, The Eagles and Alicia Keys look like they will maintain their 1-2-3 ranking next week, with no debuts coming close to cracking the Top 5. Among the newcomers are Arista/19 Recordings American Idol runner-up and human beat box Blake Lewis' A.D. D. (Audio Day Dream) (90k)
