Hugh Jackman strolls with daughter Ava Eliot in New York, and takes her for an ice cream treat. At one point Hugh is approached by a street vendor with an “Obama Condom” sign.
I wonder what that condom does! Maybe it makes you feel presidential.
We love Hugh!

Hugh Jackman playing with his daughter Ava at a playground in the West Village, New York City yesterday. What a great dad! My paparazzi subscription has been showing a lot of Hugh pics lately and I’d thought I’d share.

Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark was supposed to begin previews on Feb. 25 and open in March, but that’s not happening according to the New York Times. There’s a lot of pre-prdocution and casting work to be done due to delays last August. No timetable has been announced.
I hope it still happens!

Declining ticket sales over the past few months were not enough to cover weekly running costs. This was Dreamwork’s first attempt in competing with Disney on Broadway.
DreamWorks theatrical productions said that this does not mean other DreamWorks film titles won’t be turned into live theater someday such as “Prince of Egypt” and “Kung Fu Panda.”

Hairspray director and So You Think You Can Dance judge Adam Shankman is signing on to direct and choreograph Rock of Ages, the screen version of the Broadway musical for New Line Cinema. The film will begin production by next summer, and will be released by Warner Bros. in 2011.

Andrew Lloyd Webber Thursday unveiled his latest musical “Love Never Dies,” a sequel to the hit show “The Phantom of the Opera”. “Love Never Dies” continues the story of The Phantom, who has left his lair at the Paris Opera House and, 10 years later, is haunting the fairgrounds of New York’s Coney Island. The show then opens in New York on November 11 and in Australia in 2011.
Ughh.

EOnline’s Ted Casablanca is reporting that Cheyenne Jackson has signed up for a recurring role on “30 Rock.” If that’s true, then I’m going to have to add the show to my Tivo again. We love Cheyenne!

During a preview performance of “A Steady Rain” starring Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig, an audience member’s cellphone rings. Hugh Jackman stops the show in character.
Really guys, turn your phone off. Also, don’t use your BlackBerry while you are in the theater. The light from the screen is distracting. And don’t get me started with the ice chewing after intermission.
On another note: what a great time to watch a play on Broadway this season. Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig are in A Steady Rain, and Jude Law is getting rave reviews in Hamlet. Broadway is heaven right now I bet..

Yesterday was Avenue Q’s last show on Broadway. However, the producers went on stage to announce that the show was moving to a smaller theater Off-Broadway. The show will play at the New World Stages theater beginning Oct. 9.
This is great news! Avenue Q is one of my favorite shows ever, and it’s good to be able to still watch it even in a smaller venue. It might even be better with a more intimate audience.
This show is where I learned that everyone’s a little bit racist and that the Internet is for porn!
Yay! Neil Haskell has joined the cast of the New York Musical Theatre Festival production of F#@king Up Everything, which begins performances Oct. 6 at the 45th Street Theater.
Neil just recovered from his injury while performing on 9 to 5 on Broadway. I need to buy tickets. Hopefully I will find someone to watch with me.

Will Wingfield from So You Think You Can Dance Season 4 will take over the role of Graffiti Pete in In The Heights starting Aug. 26! How exciting. This is one of the major roles with lots of dancing and even a few lines in 96,000.
Go Will!
