Anthony Fedorov is in Seattle starring in the 5th Avenue Theatre’s production of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.” He sat down with the Seattle Times for an interview.
Excerpt:
Q: Is life after “American Idol” everything you expected it to be?
A: I was naive after I got off the show. I thought I was going to get a recording deal, and it doesn’t work like that. Labels are reluctant to sign you because you’ve been on “Idol,” so I had to go back and really understand who I am as an artist. When you get off the show you have to start from the bottom and work your way back up, so that’s what I’ve been doing. With the help of a vocal coach my singing is better than ever. I’ve also been recording and writing songs with some great writers.

Looks like the Fedoration is coming to Seattle this October. Anthony Fedorov will play the title role of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at Seattle’s 5th Avenue Theatre in October.
“I loved doing the show at the Lyric, but it was such a short run. We put in so much hard work for only six shows, and just when I felt I was starting to understand what I was doing, it was over. The chance to do it again so soon in a completely new and different production is tremendously exciting,” Fedorov said in a statement.

Here’s some video from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in Oklahoma featuring Anthony Fedorov and Diana DeGarmo.
Anthony shirtless! Woot!

Unfortunately, sound issues plagued the Anthony Fedorov and Diana DeGarmo top-billed show in Oklahoma. I heard that the Anthony Fan Club people went to watch. Was the sound really that bad?
From NewsOK:
=====
But of far greater concern is the fact that the cast’s efforts are often compromised because of excessive amplification. Can you imagine devoting two weeks to rehearse a show only to have your musical contributions rendered unintelligible?
In the role of the narrator, DeGarmo has a nice pop-inflected voice that works well for this type of show. But each time she sang with any intensity, her lyrics were all but incomprehensible. Fedorov’s attractive voice also lends itself to this music, most impressively in “Close Every Door,” one of the musical’s few calm moments. The pair’s success on “Idol” helped pave the way for musical theater opportunities. Talent and perseverance will see that their efforts continue to get noticed.

Anthony Fedorov (Season 4 4th-Place Finalist) and Diana DeGarmo (Season 3 Runner-up) will star in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the Civic Center in Oklahoma.
Anthony plays Joseph and Diana the Narrator. The show runs from July 21-25
I’m trying to convince Anthony to be active on Twitter, and he said he will tweet for all of us fans soon.

Anthony Fedorov had a concert for his fans in Philly, singing a sampling of the music he is preparing for his CD and a tribute to his late brother Denis. Most of the music was great — and yes, Anthony just loves to do the Spanish stuff. I hope he comes out with a CD soon since it is a reason to go around the country, promote, perform and be with the fans. Anthony is doing some private stuff now, and his fans still love him — some of them even flew from Oregon! That’s hardcore fans right there (it’s almost as hardcore as the New York to Seattle fans, hahaha).
Quite frankly, it was another great night in my American Idol fanhood.
Anthony Fedorov will always hold a dear place in my heart since before Sanjaya, it was Anthony who I fought very hard for in my blog when all the cards were stacked against him. From “Angel” to “Climb Every Mountain” we stood by Anthony and the Fedoration (his fans) — doing my reverse jinx prediction magic during elimination night which seemed to work at the time. Though I lost touch for a while (we did cover Fear Factor and his Fantastiks stint), we are happy to support Anthony in whatever he is doing now — even go to Philadelphia — like I did for him more than 2 years ago.
I was surprised that anyone would remember what we did for Anthony for Season 4, but when I walked into the venue looking for me seat — the audience applauded my entrance. I was like a deer in headlights — it was like nothing I’ve experienced before, and yes I was embarrassed. I was thinking: oh no, is my hair ok? How come I don’t have a stylist? Hahaha. But seriously, during the break, people were coming up to me for a picture, and I think I’ve never posed for that much pictures ever in my life.
So thank you Anthony Fedorov for a wonderful night, and to his friends for keeping me updated (and being the cute Russian boys that they are), and to his fans for making me feel that I mattered tonight. I am forever grateful.

Legend has it that Rickey once went from New York City to Rob’s house in Philadelphia for the first viewing party for Anthony Fedorov on the night he sang “I’ve Got You” by Marc Anthony.
If Fantasia made me passionate about American Idol and was instrumental in bringing fans to my blog, it was via Anthony Fedorov that I first made contact with fans of the show in a truly meaningful way. His fans and friends sent me pics and all kinds of info, and embraced me as their most visible cheerleader on the Web — a role I will always cherish. And even if most of the Fedoration have moved on to Anthony’s Official Fan site, they will always hold a special place in my Idol fan experience.
As a bit of perspective, when Perez Hilton was just starting out, back when he was called PageSixSixSix, he linked to me via one of Anthony Fedorov’s pictures. He described Anthony as a cutie patootie and the best male singer of Season 4 among other praises. He even called me scrumptious! Teehee. Read it all here. Well, just this week, Perez called Anthony a loser for starring in the off-Broadway play the Fantasticks. I’ve been a bit pissed at Mario recently for his treatment of Sanjaya, but all I will say about this is that it’s unfortunate — millions of hits a day can truly suck the humanity out of a person. Meanwhile, two years later, we’re still fans Anthony, and will not forget the 3 months of inspiration he gave us in 2005.

Okay, I just wanted to say that. This is my favorite expression now. I hope it catches on.
Meanwhile, I have so much backlog posts (Lost, Survivor, etc.) I feel a bit overwhelmed. But not to worry, I will do my best to fit them all during the weekend even if some of them are late. I still need to research on the Idol Top 3 homecomings, and of course if you are in Seattle — come visit Teen Pop Sensation Sanjaya Malakar at the Seattle Center on Saturday at 12 PM and on Sunday he will be at Everett Events Center for Kiss 106.1 Girls Night Out.
Just got back from watching The Fantasticks. Sadly, I’m just about to eat.
Oh and I also need your help. If you own a blog or myspace, please link the words “Sanjaya Malakar” to “http://www.rickey.org/?cat=129″ so the Fanjayas can find us on Google. It’s about time we take Sanjaya’s name away from the bad people don’t you think? Here’s the code:

Thank you again for your patience — and of course thanks for all the nice comments about my trip to Seattle. I have to be honest, but I am now feeling a bit disoriented. I’m still very tired. Was I really in Seattle the other day? Amazing. Did I finally meet Anthony Fedorov after two years? Wow. (Will post that in a bit.)
I love you all! Thank you for being so nice to me!
