What a surprise from my paparazzi subscription! I wonder what Ace is doing now. Fox Reality Channel is folding, so there goes the American Idol Extra gig. Anyone know?

Ace Young is also going on tour with some people he knows very well soon. Yay! Go to New York!
There was an editing error as they showed portions of Ace’s conversation with Jillian twice. I guess that happens when you are editing in a hurry.

I have 6 words for Kara DioGuardi: Stop talking about artistry because you don’t make any friggin’ sense. Runs and fals is not artistry. And next week, you will be contradicting yourself again anyway.
However, I am still looking forward to your quotes of the week Kara! Keep it up.
Meanwhile, Ace Young debuts as co-host for American Idol Extra on Fox Reality Channel. Loved Ace here, but a bit disappointed that J.D. Roberto is out. Loved J.D. and he was a great host.

Well, they blew off Ricky without too much fanfare, so he is out for the count, I fear.
Alexis is told she is in, and she sings again. It is as good as last night, and still lacking a bit for me. Actually, she might even be better tonight.
The cannon-fodder is dismissed pretty much.

Ace Young to host ‘Idol Extra’ (Hollywood Reporter)
Fox Reality Channel will bring back Season 5 contestant Ace Young to host this year’s “American Idol Extra.”
Young will be joined by Fox utility player Jillian Reynolds. The fourth season of the behind-the-scenes “Idol” annex also will be shot from the “Idol” stage for the first time.
Looking forward to this! Good luck Ace Young!

I saw Grease starring Ace Young last night with Howard, Kim, Joni and Kimberly.
Ace Young was the star of the show. Who knew that Ace would be a song and dance man? Moreover, who knew that Ace Young would come into this production and completely take it over? Ace’s performance of “Greased Lightnin” as Kenickie was the highlight. And if you are a total fangirl who imagines Ace Young in a wifebeater on top of a shiny red top-down convertible in spotlights — you need to go to Broadway and watch this. For an added thrill, they gave Ace a mic and let him lead “Greased Lightnin” and another song in the finale. The show closes on January 4, 2009 so you have a few more days. You can buy your tickets at Ticketmaster.com.
Needless to say, Ace-mania lives on after three years removed from American Idol. When we waited for Ace outside the stage door, girls were screaming his name as he came out.
On a side note however — since I must continue the tradition of being Ace Young’s toughest critic — somebody needs to rewrite his bio in the playbill which described his eponymous debut album as “a revolutionary combination of rock, R&B and funk which utilizes a 30-piece string section with horns”. Eeek. But that’s not your fault Ace — hope you fired the PR-hack who wrote that. *wink*
I’m very happy Ace decided to do this, uncertain as it may have been when he was offered the role. It keeps the fans happy. His most loyal fans have come from all-over the country just to see him. And now I’ve seen him on Broadway, and I’m happy.
Well, after many fits and starts, I was finally on my way to NYC to see ‘Grease’ on Broadway. I have to admit I am not a huge fan of the show, but I am a rampant Ace-aholic. Yes, I was finally getting the chance to see Ace Young on Broadway, after a few previous plans fell through.
I was meeting fellow Ace fans Linda, Joni and Kimberly. Joni and Kimberly traveled in to see him, and Joni was kind enough to make sure there was a ticket I could buy for the Friday night show, which I scooped right up. So Friday afternoon I jumped in my car and headed north. After arriving at my sister’s house in New Jersey, I changed and caught the NJ Transit train to Penn Station and the excitement set in. I was listening to his CD on the way, preparing to have a great time. I walked from Penn Station to the Brooks Atkinson Theater on 47th Street, giddy knowing I would be meeting the ladies for some fun before the show.
We met up, and went to the bar next door for a drink and to catch up. After having a few laughs and some great stories – the ladies had seen the show already, having attending shows on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday – I was truly primed to see Ace. So we made our way to join the line outside the theater.

Broadway.com has video of Ace Young backstage at Grease.
Ace Young said that he chose Kenickie because he wanted to act. Kenickie is “rude” and is unlike the good boy image he has on American Idol. He also rips his pants a lot on the show. Watch the full video — he’s shirtless in the end.
Go Ace Young!

I was a little disappointed that we didn’t win this auction, but it’s comforting to know that we can self-regulate. Everything was fine yesterday evening, until 15 minutes before closing, a panicked bidding war ensued.
At 5:26, the highest bid was $2,300 for 4 tickets to Grease and Dinner with Ace Young. At 5:46, a reserve price of $3,000 was triggered. Then FIFTEEN MINUTES later, the winning bid was $5,700! Unbelievable. I’m sure that neither of the two bidders thought the auction would reach that high — if they did, they would have bid $5,000 outright. In the end, they were bidding just to win against each other — like a pissing match with each other’s savings account. (Yes I am bitter that I am not that rich… or foolish.) You can see the insanity play out here in the last frantic minutes.
Congratulations!

Ace Young rings the opening bell at the Nasdaq with the cast of Grease (he was the only one there!) Woohoo!

Reader’s Choice: Ace Young’s self-titled debut album (EW.com)
Arguably the best album from an American Idol alum. Produced by Desmond Child and featuring songs by Diane Warren and Ace himself, it is sure to blow up if radio is willing to take a chance on an independent artist.
Yay!
