A majority of Rickey.org readers thought that Kris Allen’s CD was on par with Idol albums in the past, which could be a good or a bad thing. It could be Carrie Underwood good or Taylor Hicks bad. I hope it does well! I’m still hoping that it will sell at least 100,000 copies for the first week. I think Kris Allen will debut at #4 or #5, so anything better than that I will be ecstatic.
Live Like We’re Dying is now at #51 on the iTunes Top 200 chart.

For this week, as we leave American Idol Season 8 behind, let’s turn to the 2 dancing shows currently airing: Dancing with the Stars and So You Think You Can Dance. Who is your favorite “dance” judge?
My favorite is Len Goodman.

Rickey.org readers think that “For Your Entertainment” by Adam Lambert is the best first single in recent history. Who are you people? Are you all Adam Lambert fans now. LOL. This is the most ridiculous result I’ve seen in our non-scientific polls over here. Did some of you guys cheat? What happened to the discerning, intelligent and witty Rickey.org reader? Where are you? (I miss you).
Anyway, I’m just going to tell you guys that “For Your Entertainment” is NOT the best first single in recent history. Listen to me for once and save yourselves the heartache in the next few months.
The best would have to be “It’s Not Over” by Daughtry (2,000,000+ copies), “Crush” by David Archuleta (2,000,000+ copies) and/or “Tattoo” by Jordin Sparks (2,000,000+ copies).
But there is a glimmer of hope for our Season 8 Idols: Kris Allen’s Live Like We’re Dying is back in the iTunes Top 100 at #67 and Adam Lambert’s For Your Entertainment is at #76. If these tracks stay in the Top 100 for a few more weeks and not drop out of the charts after the media blitz is over, then they might have legs. Jordin Sparks “Battlefield” has been in the Top 100 since May 12, 2009 and it has sold over 1 million copies.

For this week, Kris Allen’s Full CD is streaming over at AOL Music, so let’s Rate Kris Allen’s CD.

You guys love Allison Iraheta’s new single “Friday I’ll Be Over U“. Hopefully you guys love it so much that when it gets released on iTunes next week, you will buy it and bring it to the top of the charts.

I had a couple of questions in mind for this week such as ‘Where will Paula Abdul eventually land?’ or ‘Which American Idol Season 8 Single will be the biggest hit?’ but, I’ve decided that the best way to promote Kris Allen is to keep his name out there no matter what. So…
How many albums will Kris Allen sell on his first week?
Want to hear something awesome? Listen to Live Like We’re Dying by Kris Allen here.

Must. Promote. Kris Allen. At. All. Costs. Promote. Promote. Promote.
The winning outcome of this poll was a bit interesting: “It doesn’t matter. No one can guarantee a hit. You just need to be lucky.” It’s the most sensible when you read it, but on hindsight, I shouldn’t have included it since it’s the safe non-answer.
First of all, as an argument for “Yes” — What’s the point in trying to get signed by a label then? Doesn’t getting showered by all these “hitmakers” with songs increase your chances of getting a hit single?
And of course for the “No” — we’ve seen how 19E has indeed mishandled its talents even if they have showered their artists with songs from “hitmakers”.
I screwed up and took the focus off the real intent of the question which was if 19E was screwing things for Kris Allen or not. Maybe a redo in a few days… because you know: we need to talk about Kris Allen! Promote, promote, promote!
Anyway, so most of you guys think it’s all about luck in this business, major label or not. Let’s hope Kris Allen gets lucky! Go lucky puppy!

For this week, we stop talking about Kris Allen (for a bit) and switch to Allison Iraheta. How do you like her new single “Friday I’ll Be Over U?”

It’s unanimous! You guys love Kris Allen’s latest single Live Like We’re Dying. I do too. A bit Jason Mraz-sounding but faster. The lyrics are also good, and on a personal note something I’ve been doing for many years now. I live like I’m dying everyday.
The song was composed by The Script, and is one of two songs they composed for Kris Allen.

Please support Kris Allen on iTunes and help him reach the top to the charts: Live Like We’re Dying (iTunes)
After my controversial post about the current state of Kris’ album last week (he has recorded at least 4 songs as confirmed by Michael Slezak and researched by MJ from MJ’s Big Blog) and with Kris admitting to Ryan Seacrest that he has “no idea how far along” they are with the album … do you trust 19 Entertainment / Jive Records in handling the promotion and creation of Kris Allen’s debut?
Take the poll here.

You guys are most excited about So You Think You Can Dance, followed by Dancing with the Stars. Yay! I love those shows too.
There are a few holdouts who will only watch a show with Paula Abdul. My advice: tune in to HSN and Lifetime.

For this week, we ask about Paula Abdul’s replacement after she voluntarily left the show to seek greener pastures: What do you think of Ellen DeGeneres as the new judge on American Idol?

And your favorite is: Neil Patrick Harris! Sight unseen! Woot!
See the results here.
You know who needs money right now and would probably take the permanent fourth judge seat? Whitney Houston. Think about it. It has trainwreck and ratings written all over that choice.
For this week, since the Fall 2009 Reality TV season is here, we ask the question: Which Reality TV show are you most excited to see this Fall?

Did you guys like the name “David Cook and the Anthemic?” Well, the answer was no (or ewww).
In the middle of this poll, a David Cook fan attempted to cheat by voting 400 times, so I deleted those votes. Why? Why cheat? Why be in denial?
Anyway, if you like the name, then you are getting your wish, because unfortunately for the rest of us, it looks like we will be stuck with “David Cook and the Anthemic” for the next album. I wonder when the official announcement of this band name will happen.

For this week, since new names have been confirmed as guest-judges on the American Idol auditions, we revisit our last poll: Fourth Judge: Who is your favorite so far?

So far, you guys love Shania Twain! However, 2 other names were added after we started this poll (Joe Jonas and Kelly Clarkson) – so we’ll see how Shania fares in the next Fourth Judge Poll.
You can view the results here.
In the meantime, what do you guys think of David Cook’s new band name: David Cook and The Anthemic?
Also: Please take the Rickey.org survey! Thanks.
Wow, such little faith my readers! Yes wins. You guys think that American Idol is rigged. But what happened to the argument that Kris Allen won because of power-voting in Arkansas even if Adam Lambert was supposedly more popular? Whichever is more convenient then huh?
Personally, yes, I do think that since American Idol contestants are cast for the most part via “type” rather than talent, there is clearly a fair share of rigging. However, I do believe that whoever wins is indeed the most popular at that point in their careers — and therefore had the most votes. It is proven however that winning Idol does not guarantee success. Ruben Studdard and Taylor Hicks for example are no longer as popular as they once were.

For this week, now that Paula Adbul has chosen not to return to the show we ask the hopeful question: Will Paula Abdul return as a judge on American Idol?

And the readers’ favorite performance on the tour is Adam Lambert’s David Bowie medley!

For this week, we ask the question again after a bitter former contestant opened his mouth: Is American Idol rigged?

Is a Kayla, Brandon, Evan and Jeanine finale imminent?

Everybody loves Paula! 76% of Rickey.org readers would love to see Paula Abdul on American Idol next year and beyond.
You can view the results here.
This week: What is your favorite performance on the Idol tour?
This is a hard one! I can’t choose between Hey Jude, Slow Ride and Don’t Stop Believing…

How are you doing in the office pool?
Did we save Jason Glover?

And your favorite winning song is: Magic Rainbows by David Cook! I would have chosen A Moment Like This by Kelly Clarkson because it’s the consummate American Idol winning song, but I guess you guys like rainbows. Also, No Boundaries by Kris Allen didn’t do to bad in the poll. Nice Benches.
You can view the results here.
For this week, contract negotiation troubles force us once again to ask the question: Is Paula Abdul indispensable on American Idol?

How are you doing in the office pool?
Did we save Jason Glover?

A majority is happy with the setlist and apparently a lot of you are watching the tour. Yay!
Here are the Results.
For this week, in the light of Kris Allen dropping No Boundaries on the tour setlist: What is your favorite winning coronation song?

How are you doing in the office pool?
Did we save Jason Glover last night?

Here are the results for last week’s question: What is your favorite American Idol Showmance?
The winner is Kradam! Followed by Mavid and Cookleta.
I’m a bit shocked that Cake and Ace/Chris did not fare better. I guess time is a factor.
This week’s poll: How do you find the 2009 American Idol Tour setlist?

Here are the results from this week’s poll:
Are you following any of the Idols on Twitter?
Yes, I’m on all the time 38% (888 votes)
Yes, but I hardly use Twitter 27% (626 votes)
No, Twitter is the devil 35% (819 votes)
The really active Twitter users beat out the non-users.
Dear non-user: Follow me on Twitter! LOL
I’m making the Rickey.org sidebar polls a regular weekly thing now and posting the results as well. New polls should be up in the sidebar on the weekend. Thanks for participating!
