Carly Smithson – We Are the Fallen – Signs with Universal Republic Records 6

Universal Republic Records has signed new rock group We Are The Fallen, it was announced today by Monte Lipman, President and CEO of Universal Republic Records. The new band is comprised of the original members of multiplatinum trailblazing band Evanescence, guitarists Ben Moody and John LeCompt along with drummer Rocky Gray, with enigmatic American Idol finalist Carly Smithson powering the vocal reins of the new group. Respected touring and studio bassist Marty O’Brien (Disturbed and Static-X, among others) rounds out the iconic fivesome.

The group is currently recording their debut album for Universal Republic in Los Angeles and expect to release it in early 2010.

A bit dark, I love this video!

Syesha Mercado bowling.

I love how the lanes are designed in a way to distract you from what you are doing by having these big TV screens right at your target. However, Syesha did really well while A-Rod was getting interviewed after the Yankees win.

Dreamgirls Star Syesha Mercado

I interviewed Syesha Mercado over the phone today! She was so nice!

Syesha is currently rehearsing for the touring production of Dreamgirls where she plays Deena Jones (played by Beyonce in the film). The show opens at the Apollo Theater on Nov. 7 and will tour around the country until June 2010.

I was quite nervous leading up to the interview because as I understand it, Syesha had some issues with some stuff I had written about her in my blog last year. I started off by apologizing to her for anything I had posted that may have offended her, and she responded that “we have no drama.” She said that she didn’t even know what the fuss was about even when people were tweeting her about it. As far as she’s concerned, she loves everyone. Yay! We love you too Syesha!

Chikezie Eze – Against All Odds – General Hospital 3

Chikezie Eze guests on General Hospital. He sang “Against All Odds”.

Chikezie also wants to appear on “Glee” one day. I can’t help him there, but maybe his manager can.

I thought this performance was just alright. It sounded like he sang live and he seemed to be a bit nervous. But hey, it was a single take, so hats off to him. Maybe he can be a bar regular on the show.

James Franco to guest star on “General Hospital” 1

First American Idol’s Chikezie, now James Franco!

James Franco will guest star on ABC’s “General Hospital” for a lengthy story arc this fall. I’m reading that he decided to do this for research for an upcoming film.

Incidentally, you can watch Chikezie on Oct. 9. I don’t think he did that for research.

Josiah Leming

Josiah Leming’s mother passed away today. The news was sent to some fans to let them know.

Josiah was a fan favorite of American Idol Season 7 and is famous for not making the Top 24 because of his “breakdown” during Hollywood Week. He released an EP called Angels Undercover in October 2008. Hope Warner Bros. has not given up on the album.

Our thoughts go out to Josiah.
