She is performing at the legendary Feinstein’s at Loews Regency from Nov. 17 to 21. This will be her first nightclub engagement.
All shows have a $60.00 cover, with $75.00 premium seats available, and a $25.00 food and beverage minimum. Jackets are suggested but not required.

The first single, “It’s Your Love” will be released to radio in October.

Also, the arrangement is blah. Almost like a half-hearted effort to get a single out before Valentine’s Day or something. Nevertheless, she has a single. Everyone go buy and send Melinda some love.

Melinda Doolittle — Natural Woman 21
Melinda Doolittle Smackdown Part 2: Towards the end of the party, Melinda Doolittle, Jordin Sparks and the other Idols came down to visit and have cake. It’s all quite a blur now, but I believe I turned and walked to Melinda and when she saw me, she put down her cake and immediately scolded me. Hahaha. It was horrifying, hilarious and exhilarating at the same time. To some of the guys watching (like Sprout who loved every minute of it), here was sweet Melinda Doolittle on American Idol tearing Rickey up a new one for everyone to see. Hahaha. Anyways… I somehow found myself tearing up from the stress, and then Melinda gave me a hug and said she was only playing. She then called out to Sanjaya: “I made Rickey cry!” Sanjaya said something but I couldn’t decipher it as Melinda helped me wipe away the tears.
Melinda berated me about my “funny people” comment of her during the Tonight Show interview — you know during the time when we were in TDM (Total Defense Mode) with Sanjaya. And I was throwing her under the bus for the sake of a shock elimination. So for the record, I apologize to Melinda and her fans for saying those things, and that she has basically knocked me back into my senses and I have become and even bigger fan than before.
I had actually wanted to chat her up about the backup singer Melinda does a duet with in Natural Woman during the show before and we weren’t able to do that because something else happened, so here is the video clip of the highlights.
Go Melinda! I know you are reading this, so mwah, mwah, mwah! And thanks for taking a picture of me with Sanjaya and Jordin!

I have to say, this is probably the highlight of the Meet and Greet for me in Atlantic City. So I come up to Melinda Doolittle and have my picture taken, take a picture, and then I introduce myself as Rickey from rickey.org. Melinda then immediately went into a fit. Haha. She said she checked on the blog during the show so that she was prepared with what would happen, and asked: “So how do you know what will happen Rickey?” Hahaha. She like interrogated me. LOL. It was great. I told her to get her CD done as soon possible so she can do shows to promote, and she said that right after the tour she will have shows lined up. Stay tuned for info on Melinda Doolittle’s MySpace.
Yay! We are back to being a Melinda Doolittle fan after months of indifference.

Teen Pop Sensation Sanjaya Malakar and Melinda Doolittle in a HOT number from the American Idol tour. I’m so happy now. Glad that Melinda is publicly embracing Sanjaya, and no more “I don’t know if he can sing” looks, jokes, or whatever it was she was doing months ago. I think it’s absolutely true that they had no idea how huge Sanjaya was while they were on the show that’s why their comments seemed a bit off. But hopefully now it’s all better.

The Top Performances of American Idol 6:
Sadly, this was a difficult list to make since there weren’t many memorable performances unlike previous years. But let’s give it a shot:
Chris Richardson — Mayberry
This was a bit surreal: all of a sudden we found ourselves discussing the virtues of “nasally singing” the next day.
Jordin Sparks — I Who Have Nothing
Jordin’s best vocal performance. Unfortunately, I can’t recall the melody.
Jordin Sparks — Give Me One Reason
My personal favorite of Jordin’s, although I would learn later on that this is a number in her “repertoire” of songs before she joined American Idol — so it’s actually quite practiced. Still good though.
Sanjaya Malakar — Besame Mucho
Sanjaya’s best vocal performance during the height of his amazing run. But even if Sanjaya closed the show on Latin night and delivered, the judges were still reluctant to give him praise. How sad.
Blake Lewis — Virtual Insanity
This was great. The first performance where Blake whipped out the beatboxing on a voting night. And really, who would have thought that we would hear Virtual Insanity on American Idol, the bastion of sappy hits?
Melinda Doolittle — Trouble is a Woman
Unfortunately for Melinda Doolittle, by the time she whipped out Trouble is a Woman on country night — in an attempt to show a winning attitude — Simon Cowell inadvertently revealed the chosen one in Jordin Sparks — sealing Melinda’s fate as the shock elimination at some point in the season.

Jordin Sparks, Blake Lewis and Melinda Doolittle on Leno 129
For someone supposedly so sweet, Melinda said a really mean thing tonight. She said she auditioned with her friends so she can see the “funny people” audition. And that she “thought” you had to audition in order to see these “funny people”. Right. Melinda auditioned to laugh/ogle at the other people audition (or “enjoy” them as she said). That was foremost on her mind than to live out her dreams by taking a shot at American Idol. That’s one of the stupidest answers I’ve ever heard from someone who could win this thing. Always say you want to be the American Idol that’s why you are there, no matter how corny it is, or at least invent an answer that’s not as mean-spirited like what Melinda just said.
Also, ironically, it was a bad move to mention that she read the comments about her looking like Shrek and a platypus. Ouch. I don’t know what she was thinking, but her fans have gone beyond her looks from Day 1 — and those who cannot get past her looks will never be able to because they’re shallow that way — she shouldn’t have dignified those things by addressing it voluntarily. It serves no purpose to anybody.
So: 1. Melinda auditioned for the sole-purpose to watch the “funny people”, then 2. Melinda is hurt by the comments that she looks like a “funny people”. Shaking my head in disbelief.
What a disappointing interview from Melinda in the few answers that she gave. She strikes me as a person so in control of what she’s doing and yet trying to project that she has no idea what is happening — that kind of bothers me now.
