Chris Sligh to Season 8 Idols: You’re Not Going To Be Successful 36

Chris Sligh wrote a blog post for the American Idol Season 8 contestants. Great reality check, although I’m a little shocked at his claims of being the Top 5 most successful Idol over Seasons 6 & 7.

I’m trying to imagine how, but Chris might be right, assuming he makes a ton of money on his “touring” and the royalties from “Here Comes Goodbye” which he wrote for Rascal Flatts. If that’s the case, then Chris should account for Jared Cotter, who was a Semi-Finalist in Season 6. Jared co-wrote the smash hit “Down” for Jay Sean — and things are in the upswing for Jared now. In an interview I had with Jared (which I will post soon!), he mentioned that “Down” has been downloaded on iTunes at least 1,000,000 times. Also, I’ll see what I can gather from Sanjaya Malakar regarding his book deal and his appearance on “I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here.” Sanjaya said in an interview with Howard Stern that he got a $100,000 advance for his memoir. (Although, Chris did say one time on the Vote for the Worst radio show, that he has turned down “$250,000 worth” of various Idol-related appearances since he left the show — which might mean that he’s earning really well now.)

The bottom line though is: hard work. And this I agree with Chris 100%.

He also mentioned that the tour pays at least $200K. Interesting!

American Idol’s Chris Sligh was nominated for 2 Dove Awards: Song of the Year for “Empty Me” and Best New Artist of the Year.

Mandisa was nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year.

The 40th Annual Gospel Music Association Dove Awards will be held on April 23, 2009 in Nashville.

Funny how my good name has been dragged into this. All the blog posts have been deleted, but I was able to piece together what happened thanks to the guys at televisionwithoutpity. And of course, I am posting everything here since I love this stuff. Hahaha.

Basically, Chris Sligh went into a blog-war with Ricky, the famous spoiler kid from idolforums. Ricky revealed that Sligh had been the source for some spoilers this season and Sligh publicly denied it. Unfortunately, instead of referring to Ricky (without an E) in his posts, Sligh attacked Rickey (with an E) and thus confusing the hell out of people reading blogs, message boards and e-mail all throughout the Internet.

So let’s get it straight:

Chris Sligh — American Idol 6 castoff has beef with Ricky (see below)

Ricky Hoe Guardian — idolforum user, famous for accurate spoilers on Top 24 finalists and song choices, has beef with Sligh (see above)

Rickey — the awesome blogger from rickey.org who is all about love has nothing to do with anything, since he is currently away living 24/7 in the Universe of Teen Pop Sensation Sanjaya Malakar (hahaha, just got to get that in there)
