2016 Producers Guild Awards Nominations: ‘Star Wars’ Snubbed, ‘Game of Thrones’ Shut Out

The 2016 Producers Guild Awards have announced their picks for the year, and there are some big shockers, namely that Star Wars: The Force Awakens was snubbed alongside Oscar frontrunner Carol. Meanwhile, in the TV race, Emmy winner Game of Thrones was completely shut out.

But outside of the shockers, the nominations represented some of the strongest films in any field. The terrific Ex Machina landed a surprise nomination, as did the compelling Straight Outta Compton. They’re joined by awards season regulars The Big Short, The Revenant, Mad Max: Fury Road, The Martian, Sicario, Bridge of Spies, Brooklyn and Spotlight.

In television, the series duking it out include American Crime, American Horror Story, Fargo, True Detective and Netflix’s A Very Murray Christmas, just to name a few.
